🔪🥩

Hey, kitchen warriors! Ever found yourself struggling with the wrong knife while prepping your favorite cuts of meat? Choosing the right size knife can make all the difference!

Best Knife Sizes for Meat Cutting
Chef’s Knife (20-25cm)
A versatile powerhouse, perfect for most meat cutting tasks. Its broad blade can handle everything from slicing roast beef to chopping chicken.
Boning Knife (12-18cm)
Ideal for precision work, like deboning chicken or trimming fat. The narrow blade allows you to maneuver easily around bones and joints.
Carving Knife (20-30cm inches)
The go-to for slicing large cuts like turkey, ham, or brisket. Its long, slender blade ensures even slices every time.

Pro Tip: Keep your knives sharp! A sharp knife not only makes cutting easier but also safer, as it requires less force and reduces the risk of slipping.

Whether you're a home cook or a seasoned chef, having the right knife in hand can elevate your culinary skills. So, invest in quality knives and let them be your trusty companions in the kitchen! 🥩🔪

Who says you can't bbq avocado?
Avocados aren't just for guacamole! Halve them, remove the pit, and brush them with a little olive oil. Grill them cut-side down until they have nice char marks. You can fill them with salsa, pesto, cheese, or even a fresh crab salad. Grilling brings out their natural creaminess. Try brushing firstly with Loco Lime Glaze and serve with fish 🐟

Ever wondered what that marble score actually means on your Wagyu? 🥩

Think of it like this — the higher the number, the more of those beautiful white fat threads are woven through the meat. In Australia we grade Wagyu from MB3 all the way up to MB9+ and every number up means more flavour, more tenderness and a more extraordinary eating experience.

But here's the part that blows people's minds 🤯

That fat isn't just delicious — it's actually the good stuff. Wagyu fat contains around 50% oleic acid — the exact same healthy fat that makes olive oil so good for you. And because Wagyu fat melts at such a low temperature it literally begins to dissolve the moment it hits your mouth. That's that silky, buttery sensation that makes Wagyu feel completely different to any other steak you've ever eaten.

So next time you're at the butcher and you see a marble score on the label — that number is telling you just how extraordinary your next meal is going to be. 🔥

The higher the score. The better the experience. Simple as that. 🙌

Some combinations just make sense. 🌿✨
Creamy yoghurt. Bold Mediterranean spices. Beautiful chicken on the grill.
The yoghurt works overnight to tenderise and infuse. The Mediterranean Magic seasoning brings the herbs, the warmth and the depth. The grill brings the char and the colour.
Three things. One extraordinary result. 🔥

Behind every great seasoning is a person who refused to settle. 🔥

They tasted something ordinary and thought — I can do better than this. So they started experimenting. Late nights in the kitchen. Mystery jars at family dinners. Scribbled notes on scraps of paper. Tweaking the same blend over and over until it was almost right — and then tweaking it again.

They weren't trained chefs. They didn't have a food science degree. They were just people who loved flavour so deeply they couldn't stop chasing it. People who believed that what goes on your food matters. That real ingredients make a real difference. That the right blend of spices can turn an ordinary Tuesday night dinner into something the whole family talks about on Wednesday morning.
And then came the moment that changes everything.
Someone took a bite. Put down their fork. Looked up and said — "You need to sell this."

That's where Taipan BBQ started. Not in a factory. Not in a boardroom. In a kitchen, driven by a genuine obsession with flavour and the belief that home cooks and backyard pitmasters deserve seasonings that are actually extraordinary.
Every single blend in our range carries that same story. Real ingredients. No nasties. Obsessively perfected by people who couldn't stop until they got it exactly right.

Because good food deserves great seasoning. And great seasoning deserves to be shared. 🙌

🐭 Mice. Spiders. Wasps. Possums. They're all looking for a warm home this winter — and your BBQ is top of the list.

While your BBQ sits idle over the next few months, every creature within cooee is eyeing it off as prime real estate. The grease trap is a five star restaurant for mice.

The burner tubes are a dream home for wasps. And spiders? They'll move into any gap they can find without a second thought.

Here's your no-nonsense guide to keeping your BBQ vermin proof this winter 👇
🧽 Deep clean first — Scrub the grates, degrease the burners and empty the grease trap completely. Food residue and grease is what attracts vermin in the first place. A clean BBQ is a boring BBQ to a mouse.
🔥 Burn it off before you clean — Fire it up on high for 15–20 minutes to turn leftover grease and residue to ash first. Makes the whole clean up much easier.
🛡️ Fitted cover all the way to the ground — Mice can squeeze through a hole the size of a pencil. Gaps in your cover are open invitations.
🕳️ Steel wool in the burner tubes — Wasps and spiders nest in burner tubes over winter. Push steel wool loosely into the ends. They won't get through it.
🌿 Peppermint oil cotton balls inside the BBQ — Mice hate the smell. Pop a few inside before you cover it and refresh every couple of weeks.

⚠️ Check your gas hose before your first spring cook — Mice chew through gas hoses. Every single season. Before you fire up check every connection and hose for damage. If in doubt replace it. Hoses are cheap. Safety isn't.

Five minutes of prep now saves a very nasty surprise when the weather warms up. Look after your BBQ this winter and it'll be ready to fire the second spring hits. 🔥
Drop a comment below if you've had any unwanted winter visitors in your BBQ — we know we're not alone on this one! 👇😂
