Purpose-driven, socially focused, sustainable, profit-creating business for our community and the planet. Our first Community Food Hub Space to grow our economic potential together, through the creation of viable businesses, employment, sustainable farming practices, and training opportunities for Murrurundi and surrounding areas. Our vision for Murrurundi is to Help our Community Thrive through F

ood, we want to grow a truly sustainable lifestyle, partnering with our farmers and local producers to create future financial opportunities. We have successfully implemented our first pilot project and have established a Local Farmers Growers & Producers Monthly Market, and in May 2022 we opened our first retail Community Food Hub space. We will assist community members in developing their ideas for producing locally grown foodstuff. We will provide a space in which local farmers, producers and townsfolk can come together and access business advisory services, safe food handling training as well as other related workshops including mental health/wellbeing, environmental sustainability and food wastage. Progressing from this under the aching banner of The Murrurundi Collective members will test their products locally to develop them further and identify what diverse economic opportunities are available in the market. We want the town to come together to help write a playbook for Community Food Hubs in Regional Australia, to build the foundation on which to grow those opportunities now and for our future generations.

In the Netherlands, unused spaces beneath bridges are being quietly transformed into stacks of sleeping capsules—compact, secure shelters offering overnight refuge to those without homes. These minimalist pods are built from insulated materials, weatherproofed against rain and cold, and stacked in modular arrangements that fit neatly into urban gaps where traditional shelters cannot reach.

Each capsule is equipped with a coded entry system, allowing registered users to access a personal pod without waiting in lines or risking conflict. Inside, a simple mattress, soft lighting, thermal lining, and a charging point provide a space of peace and recovery. For many, it’s the first place they can lock a door behind them, breathe, and sleep safely.

The initiative is run in partnership with local housing groups and social services. QR codes and mobile apps allow outreach workers to schedule use, offer assistance, or check in when needed. Some pods are even mobile, moved seasonally or reassembled in different configurations as needs change.

Crucially, these capsules restore a fundamental layer of dignity—offering not just protection from the elements but autonomy, privacy, and respect. They’re designed not as a final answer to homelessness, but as a humane bridge between crisis and stability.

The Netherlands shows that when public design meets compassion, even the smallest spaces can offer powerful shelter. Safety doesn’t need grandeur—it just needs a locked door and a light.

In Vietnam, a new wave of practical public service is emerging in the form of free sewing booths placed in city squares. These modest yet impactful spaces are equipped with basic sewing machines, spare thread, and materials — giving anyone the chance to mend, repair, or alter clothes at no cost. Open to all, the booths operate on the simple idea that everyone deserves a way to extend the life of their clothing, regardless of income or housing situation.

More than just a place to fix buttons or patch holes, these booths have also become informal micro-workstations. Skilled locals — including elderly tailors or job-seekers — often offer quick repairs or basic tailoring services to others for a small fee or donation. It's a space where creativity meets community support, where someone’s talent with a needle can translate into both self-worth and pocket income.

The booths are intentionally located near busy squares, transit stops, and flea markets — areas where both foot traffic and textile need are high. Volunteers and local NGOs keep them stocked and tidy, ensuring the equipment remains safe and usable for all. In some cities, weekend workshops are even offered to teach sewing basics to beginners.

This low-cost urban solution tackles waste, unemployment, and access all at once — proving that with just a sewing machine and an open booth, a little thread can stitch together much more than clothes.

🩷 This time last Saturday night, we gathered at Sundaze to share a beautiful meal, reconnect with friends, and come together as a community—all with the goal of raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

What an incredible night it was. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such a generous and supportive community, and I’m especially grateful to William, who kindly made the space available even though he couldn’t join us in person.

Together, we raised $877—surpassing my original goal of $300! I’m absolutely thrilled and deeply moved by everyone’s support.

Now, with just a little more help, we could hit the $1,000 mark! If you’d still like to donate and be part of this beautiful cause, please head to the link below.

Let’s keep the momentum going, you awesome people. 🩷
