FLAVOUR OF THE MARKET ☕️
Epic Coffee - Exceptional Coffee Journey

Tony and Epic Coffee have been part of the Northern Rivers coffee and market scene for more than a decade, and Tony with over 20 years of experience attending markets through various businesses. His long-standing connection to local markets makes him a true market veteran.

The coffee served at Epic Coffee is sourced from Nat’s Coffee, a family-run organic coffee roastery in Alstonville. Nat’s father was among the pioneers of coffee growing in the Northern Rivers, and Nat has been roasting locally grown beans since his high school days. Tony is passionate about sharing the story behind every cup, reminding us that Australian-grown coffee is a rare find, and locally grown coffee even more so. Outside of North Queensland, there is nowhere else but in Northern Rivers farmers markets where you can enjoy coffee grown and roasted close to home, making your market coffee a truly special experience!

Tony’s background in permaculture and organic farming gives him a strong appreciation for local food systems and the farmers who make them possible. That connection to growers, producers, and customers is one of the reasons he feels so at home at farmers’ markets.

For Tony, the market is about much more than coffee. He values the conversations, and sense of community that develop week after week. Creating a welcoming space where people can connect and feel they belong is just as important to him as serving a great cup of coffee!

The Winter season is ON ☀🍊🍋🥕🫜🍠🥦🍋‍🟩

This week we have the market in full swing with a lot our fortnightly stalls joining us. In other words, you can find Byron Spice Palace, Byron Bay Peanut Butter, Wiinya Beeswax and Lomi Lomi Massage in the shed this week. Time to get your dips, olives and olive oil, peanut butter, candles and mid-week pampering!

We are also enjoying all the beautiful winter veggies that are in abundance at the moment. Cabbages, cauliflowers, broccoli, celery, carrots, beetroots and different kind of potatoes are all over the markets with our farmers Jumping Red Ant, Summit Organics, Johny’s Garden, Sylva Lining Organics and Everest Farm. It’s also time to stock up with beautiful mandarins, oranges and so many other varieties of citrus that’s around!

We also have a new stall joining us this week and we’re excited to have Germaine’s Pickles and Gary joining us. You can spot Gary next to Sylva Lining Organics and Agartha stalls. Gary’s bringing us his family tradition in a form of French Mauritanian pickles. Unlike kimchi and sauerkraut which are made using a fermentation process, French pickles are preserved in mostly vinegar and low percentage of cold pressed organic olive oil. Gremaine’s Pickles contains prebiotics, and they are gluten-free, vegan and made from organic vegetables that are sourced in Northern Rivers and made in Mullumbimby. Gary’s bringing us three different flavous and says they are best served with cheese and crackers, with breakfast on toast and egg, on sandwiches or as a side for all pickle lovers!

✦ This Wednesday at Murwillumbah Farmers' Market ✦
✦ TASTE WITHOUT BORDERS ✦
THIS WEEK WE TRAVEL TO INDONESIA 🌿
This week our kitchen has been filled with the aroma of ginger, lemongrass, fresh basil, and warming spices.
Inspired by the shared tables and rich flavours of Indonesia, we've been slowly creating a nourishing satay dish that feels both grounding and vibrant at the same time.
At the heart of this week's offering is our:
✨ Satay Vegetables with Fragrant Rice ✨
Created with:
🌿 Crispy arrowroot-coated tofu
🌿 Fresh basil
🌿 Broccoli
🌿 Carrot
🌿 Spanish onion
🌿 Seasonal vegetables
All gently folded through fragrant basmati rice and finished with our house-made satay sauce.
Made from:
🥥 Fresh coconut milk
🥜 Activated almond and cashew butter
🫚 Fresh ginger
🌾 Lemongrass
🍋 Kaffir lime zest
🫙 Tamari
🌴 Coconut nectar
The result is rich, aromatic, warming, and deeply satisfying.
✧ NOURISHMENT THROUGH UNDERSTANDING ✧ 🌿
One of the things we love most about food is that it can teach us something.
The combination of tofu and rice creates a beautifully satisfying meal while also naturally complementing one another nutritionally to provide a more complete protein profile.
Not through supplements.
Not through powders.
Simply through the way whole foods work together.
Perhaps nourishment is not only about what we eat...
But understanding how it all comes together.
Here’s another way to experience nourishment.
✧ FROM OUR FERMENTATION TABLE ✧ 🍞
Alongside this week's offering we will also have:
✨ Fermented Lentil & Millet Bread
✨ Activated Charcoal Loaf
✨ Stewed Apple, Walnut, Cinnamon & Monkfruit Loaf
Slowly fermented.
Prepared with patience.
Shared generously.
✧ CHAI & CAROB ✧ ☕🍂
Our signature chai will be brewing gently throughout the morning.
And this week's carob creations are feeling especially awe-pleantyful...
✨ PHoneycomb Crunch
A playful take on honeycomb — without the honey.
Crunchy golden pieces coated in our signature carob blend.
And introducing:
✨ Garden Mint Peppermint Slice 🍃
Created with:
🌿 zucchini
🌿 cashews
🌿 spirulina
🌿 peppermint oil
🌿 coconut oil
Cool, creamy, refreshing, and quietly vibrant.
A little like wandering through a mint garden after the rain.
Cool garden nourishment disguised as indulgence.
Warm bowls.
Fresh bread.
Slow chai.
Soft conversation.
People often rediscover what they've already discovered — they just forgot they knew it already.
📍 Find us at Murwillumbah Farmers' Market on Wednesday.
With gratitude,
Marc & Daryl

This month, Dunav Smallgoods celebrates three years at our market, and we are proud to have them as part of our family of stallholders.

The selection at Dunav Smallgoods is anything but small. Each week they bring a range of products, including beef jerky, gourmet sausages, ham, bacon, salamis, premium marinated meats, cold cuts, high-end Wagyu, and fresh and smoked meats. Since Goran and Vlad launched the business in 2019, demand for their exceptional products has continued to grow.

The name Dunav comes from the town on the border of Serbia and Croatia where Goran and Vlad grew up. Drawing on a strong family heritage of traditional meat production, they create quality meats using time-honoured Serbian and Croatian methods. Their specialty is cooked, cured and fresh meats, ranging from sausages and jerky to salami and premium cuts.

Using 100% Australian-sourced meat, Dunav Smallgoods is built on a commitment to quality, authentic flavours, and friendly customer service. Their passion for their craft is evident in every product they bring to market, making them a favourite among our shoppers week after week.
