Come along bring the family everyone welcome all ages all Cultures 🤎💪🏾

Due to the unfortunate amount of Sorry Business our people have experienced in the last few months The Mura Biri Gururu Aboriginal Dancers are offering a Community Smoking Ceremony for everyone to come along and cleanse your Internal and External selves. We think it is very important for everyone to come along and be a part of these ceremonies. We must always look after our Body, Mind and Spirit and this is a perfect way to help with that. After the amount of Sorry Business that is still continuing in our communities we will be conducting these smoking ceremonies in the following week before the upcoming Toowoomba Warriors Annual Knockout Carnival so that we are all refreshed and ready for a positive gathering for our mobs!

PLEASE NOTE! These are not funded events and will not be catered for it is simply a ceremony that will take a few minutes for individual families.

Also all Community will be welcome to participate in these ceremonies. So please share around with community and we hope to see you and your families on these days.

On Behalf of the Oakey Community Yarn Up Group we would like give a huge shout out to everyone who came along and supported our event. According to the amount of positive Feedback we received on Monday it is safe to say we had another successful NAIDOC Celebrations. The smiles and happiness we seen on all the little peoples faces is what drives us to these events for our community.

We would love to give a Huge shout out to:

Our Oakey Community Yarn Up Group for all of the hard work that was done in making these events Possible.

Goondir Health Services for sponsoring the Deadly Torres Strait Islander Dancers and the Elders Luncheon which was held on Tuesday, also all of the other contributions that were given during the planning and event.

Goolburri Health Advancement Co. Ltd for sponsoring the rides and fun foods which was enjoyed by everyone.

NAC for sponsoring our Deadly NAIDOC Cake and the Hire of the Oakey Football Cub as a venue to have the Event plus many more contributions over the period of the planning and event’s

Oakey Beef Exports for Donating the Steaks and Sausages for the day.

Oakey Lions Club for their contribution and time in the Steak shed providing the most delicious Steak and Sausage sandwhiches for everyone

Toowoomba Regional Councils contributions and providing a venue for our NAIDOC Awards Ceremony and Morning Tea.

Addos Tyre Service for sponsoring the Morning Tea at our March and Awards Ceremony

Mano’s Kebab for sponsoring the Live Entertainment at our Fun Day

Damien and Jackie Menhinnitt for their donation

Mura Biri Gururu Aboriginal Dancers for there contribution of sharing cultural knowledge and song and dance to the Oakey Bidara Guthara Guthara Dancers who presented a dance at our NAIDOC Fun Day.

Of course we would also like to thank all of the stall holders who attended the NAIDOC Fun Day. We apreciate your time and contribution to our Yarn Up Group.

Whether it was a gold coin donation, buying food or having a stall the contributions we recieved from the community was overwhelming. Every donation comes back into the Oakey Community Yarn Up Group to help support us for more events in the future.

We would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to Dylan and Kerri-Anne Adamson from Addo's Mobile Tyre Service for their generous donation of $500.00 in support of the Oakey Community Yarn Up Group's upcoming Oakey NAIDOC Celebrations. Dylan, Kerri-Anne, and their family are proud Oakey locals and owners of Addo's Mobile Tyre Service. It is truly special to have local small businesses demonstrate their support in such a meaningful way, exemplifying the strong community spirit that exists within our community.

Dylan has expressed that giving back to the community in this manner is the least they can do. We encourage everyone reading this post to visit Dylan and Kerri-Anne's page and consider their services for any tyre needs.
