Seafood Industry Victoria (SIV) has expressed concern regarding the Outdoor Recreation Victoria Bill, which underpins the Victorian Government's proposal to merge the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) with the Game Management Authority (GMA) on July 1st under a new agency called Outdoor Recreation Victoria (ORV).

The Bill describes the structure, objectives and functions of ORV which has a clear focus on promoting outdoor recreation. SIV is of the view that regulation of commercial fishing and aquaculture by an entity focused on recreational pursuits is at odds with the roles of our seafood primary producers.

Proper governance of commercial fisheries and aquaculture—and responsible regulation of natural resources—must remain paramount. SIV urges the Government to ensure that any reforms to fisheries governance continue to uphold the objectives of the Fisheries Act, protect the sustainability of our seafood sectors and support Victoria’s seafood producers in meeting community expectations for local, nutritious and environmentally responsible food.

We hope everyone has a great weekend in this beautiful sunshine. We will be at the Ballarat Farmers Market market on Saturday and the Dunolly Country Market on Sunday as well as the Pomonal Village Market Sunday. The boat is open all weekend with lots of fresh fish-flathead, flake (gummy shark) , Ling, smooth dory and sashimi grade salmon (all fish is freshly filleted and can eat be frozen. Freshly made marinara mix and salt and pepper squid (GF) fresh oysters, cooked prawns with our homemade seafood sauce, raw prawns (peeled and deveined) scallops and squid tubes.

Happy Thursday ☀️🌧️ This weekend’s markets are Bellarine Farmers' Market on Saturday and South Geelong Farmers Market on Sunday. The boat is open all weekend 10am-4pm. Fresh fish will be-flake(gummy shark), Ling and smooth dory, we will have freshly made marinara mix and salt and pepper squid (GF) fresh oysters, cooked prawns, raw prawns, scallops, sashimi grade salmon and squid tubes. At the boat we will also have some beautiful whole fresh snapper in various sizes perfect for baking (GGS) and fresh frozen flathead for $25 half kg or $48 kg and octopus for $30 kg, also a few live Crays that are a decent size that we can cook for you. 🐟🦪🦐🇦🇺

Sundays markets are Maldon Market and Pomonal Village Market.
