ELFRED’S of the Peninsula

Elfred’s is a European Chef who has been living and working on the Mornington Peninsula for the last 16 years. He has cooked in various restaurants, hotels and catering establishments from Portsea to Melbourne and all over Australia. Her flair adds to the colour and vibrancy of Elfreds. We are keen to promote local produce and are proud to be part of the Mornington Penin

sula wine and culinary region of Australia. Our products, which are a range of Jams, Chutneys, Relishes, Salsa’s, Oils, Sauces, Spices, Preserves and Pickles are recipes that have been gathered over the last 25 years working as a chef in various parts of the world. If you are a fan of local produce the abundance of produce that is grown on the Mornington Peninsula, Elfreds could not be situated in a better place with all this lovely produce on our doorstep. From cherries, apples and quinces from Red Hill, Rhubarb from Boneo, strawberries, a great variety of grapes and stone fruit are just some of the things that inspire our taste buds. Our products vary with the seasons and we select the best produce when it is at its prime, as the seasonal changes allow. Some of our products have more of an international flavour collected from our travels. BBQ Sauce from the USA, Pickled Onions, Pickled Eggs and Piccalilli all traditional English Recipes. Mumbai Chutney and Mango Relish from India and a fiery Salsa from Mexico. As well as being trained as a classical French Chef he has visited Mexico several times over the last ten years where he has enhanced his knowledge of Mexican Cuisine. He has been running a Mexican Cantina at Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Arts – which is the biggest festival of its kind in Europe- for the past 12 years. In the year 2000 Elfred’s were voted the Best Food Stall at Glastonbury out of a total of over 200 food outlets. Whilst living in London he worked as a pastry chef for the Admirable Crichton – which is one of the best catering companies in Europe. Here he learnt the art of food presentation under the guidance of a catering genius. Together Fred and Michele endeavour to bring you the best tastes from our kitchen to enhance your taste buds. We will continue the journey of discovering new flavours through our travels so that we can pass them on to you. JUST A FEW IDEAS
Our famous MUMBAI CHUTNEY is a great accompaniment for all dishes, from Fish, Meat, Poultry and Vegetarian and livens up your sandwiches. MANGO RELISH with the sweet and fresh taste of mangos is the perfect accompaniment for seafood. REALLY HOT RELISH is a perfect side dish to your meals, also livens up you sandwich. ONION & RED WINE MARMALADE is perfect with grilled fish, try it on a salmon steak cooked on the BBQ. PRESERVED LEMONS are great for all your Moroccan dishes. Flavours your fish whilst cooking with the strong aromatic flavours of lemons. Use to make great sauces for your seafood dishes.

Mornington Peninsula Farmers

A visit to a local farm today.
It is such a bonus to know the local farmers. As well as there cash crops some also have some local specials.

Today I scored a load of Feijoas and some Jam Melons. I even had a few bonus wonky carrots thrown in.

I've made the Melon Jam before. Popular amongst my more mature customers. The fun is deciding what flavour to do.
