👣 nunka. Australian Native Foods were thrilled to be part of Fine Food Melbourne’s Native Foods Trail Tour where we could share our products, our knowledge and our story with visitors looking for exactly what we offer!

🌿 Fine Food is all about connection and we used the tour as a chance to connect with two fellow exhibitors showcasing their products in demonstrating the use of two of our samples

🥒+🍖 We paired our Sea Parsley Pickles with Conroy's Foods Ham Steaks - a South Australian small-goods producer with a vast range of tasty deli meats

🍓+🧀 We paired our Strawberry & Native Thyme Jam with Wisconsin Cheese Sartori Merlot Bellavitano Cheese which brought another depth of flavour to both our jam and their cheese!

🍽️ Sharing the versatility of both Native Foods and our full product range shows consumers the journey they too can take in exploring the Flavours of Aboriginal Australia!

🌿 Chef Matt Atkins was a guest presenter today at Fine Food Melbourne having been invited by The Department of Primary Industries to represent NSW in the panel discussion.

As a Malyangapa and Barkindji Wiimpitja, qualified chef and founder of nunka. Australian Native Foods, Matt draws on more than 20 years experience in the hospitality and events industries, creating premium products and culinary experiences that celebrate native ingredients while advocating for ethical sourcing, cultural respect and stronger First Nations participation across the food industry.

The topic for the panel was the “$80 million opportunity - Australia's native food industry is now valued at $80 million, and it's growing fast but most hospitality operators have little understanding of how to source, price, and communicate native ingredients on a menu. This session was practical and business-focused: how to find suppliers, what does ethical sourcing actually look like, and how to tell the story to customers in a way that adds value without appropriating it?”

As the owner of Plate Hospitality Group Matt is not only a chef, but a buyer, product maker and First Nations business owner in the industry and wears many hats. Bringing all these perspectives together to deliver a north star message that Native ingredients should create value all the way back to Country - not only at the point of sale was a crucial message Matt delivered and wished to represent as a core ethos to what our company represents.
