Motovun is well known amongst foodies because of the nearby forests full of hidden treasures: black and white truffles. It is one of the few places outside Italy where you can find the Tuber magnatum, the most expensive truffle in the world. In early August this year, Tartuf took their first steps in Motovun Istria, a small hilltop town located on the eastern side of the Adriatic Sea, just 100km

across from Venice. They immediately fell in love with the famous Istrian medieval town, from its gorgeous scenic outlooks to the historical character seen throughout the narrow streets and architecture. However, it was the high intensity aromas, superior quality and flavours of the black and white truffles that won the hearts of the Tartuf. One of the owners was also previously involved with two Australian TV food series, Masterchef and Recipe to Riches. She thought it would be great to pursue her passion for food through a different avenue. This led to the establishment of Tartuf, a business that is excited to bring the Croatian truffle experience to local Australian restaurants and homes. We have partnered with a local supplier who is famous for finding the largest white truffle (1.31kg) in the world.
