Who are we?
We are Karan and Geoff and we have lived in Torquay for almost 50 years! We are passionate gardeners and have always felt very privileged to be able to welcome a huge variety of wildlife to our gardens. We currently have 4 hives on our property - and produce a number of jars of honey via our Flow Hives.
If you have not heard of Flow, you should check out their site. Their hives are fantastic and make extracting the honey much gentler on our bees. https://www.honeyflow.com.au/pages/how-flow-works
Do we do it for the money? No way! We do it for the love of bees! π
We know that bees are important to not only our own slice of paradise here in Torquay but to the entire world! Did you know that the bee populations are under threat? There are many factors that are contributing to the reduction in bees such as pesticides and habitat loss due to development. It's really important that we all try to make our world as bee friendly as possible.
100% of honey sales goes to a scholarship that funds an award at Deakin University. We established The Shirley Anne Everett Award for Excellence in honour of Karan's mother who was a brilliant nurse, to award to a currently enrolled third year Bachelor of Nursing student who has consistently demonstrated the qualities of compassion, empathy, and clinical skill.
We love that we are helping the future of bees and the future of healthcare for our community; all while pottering in our garden! β€
