🎉🎉12 months ago we started moving into the Flinders Street location🎉🎉 What a year it's been🥴
We've learned a lot about business in this time🧠, yet know we are only scraping the surface. A lot has changed, and more changes are coming👌

I'd like to say a massive thank you 🙏 to all of you for everything over the last year and even two and a half years since we started🗓Two and a half years ago we met many of you for the first time and still see you today which we deeply appreciate🤝
Many of you we met 6 months ago and still see you on an every other day basis as we add more and more to our offerings🫶

We've learned to crawl, now we are going to jump right into running with a new menu dropping soon with waffles and some other goodies that we think you'll love and is seriously worth the drive plus parking and maybe a bit of a walk from the car park if its a busy day. 🤤🤤We've got our heads wrapped around production🍭 - now just need to get to it as we finish off a bunch of ongoing admin, set up and research and all that boring stuff🙄
Not only that but liquor licensing is well on its way and the application is in so. There's that. Even though we aren't really sure what to do with it when we get it yet🤷‍♂️

📣📣On that note. I do feel it's important to parrot what every other small business is saying with a tiny glimmer of hope that the government will listen to us. This little celebration and milestone is overshadowed by a looming sense of dread and contemplation of what might be coming for every industry we cross over into, every Aussie citizen around the country and how to tackle these challenges. From tightening home budgets to overheads going up and changes way out of our control that have already begun or are coming - things that affect us in every way down to packaging pricing and availability.

All small business owners are worried. We are harder and harder pressed every year... But we will keep showing up as long as you do. You keep our families fed and that's enough for any one of us. We will continue doing what we love and giving you the products and environment you love as long as you show up and you do still. You've seen the good and the bad - i don't hide it well. You've been there to share laughs and words of encouragement when my face just can't hide the problems.

We own our business and can take what we need to live comfortably enough, but in talking to more people we realise how good we have it here. We aren't rolling in cash by any means, but we didn't realise how many out there are working as hard and long, if not even more, just to have a roof over their head and eat. We feel you. We've been there. We still walk a very thin wire here. That is the nature of the industry we are in. We're still with you now and are committed to keeping low cost, high value items available in a delightful, casual environment with free AC and WiFi.
It's for times like these that Confection Obsession was created📣📣

UPDATE ON DOROTHY

Dorothy is home now and has not left Jaysons side, a very big scare and could of had a much worse outcome, lots of observations over the next fue days as she gets back to her good old self and more tests in the next fue weeks, but she is well and recovering.
Thank you to the team at Green Cross vets for your help and for rushing her in immediately.

What an amazing time of year🤩 for NQ, so much on and so much to do.

🗓From the 1st of May to the 3rd of May the Festival of the Outback Skies🌌 is returning to Hughenden🪃, This is one of their biggest events🎆 of the year and celebrates the unique culture🇦🇺, lifestyle, and natural🏞 beauty of the Flinders Shire region in Queensland, Australia🇦🇺 and we are super proud🥰 to be supporting and heading out there🚚 to be involved for the second year in a row.

We will be by the lake🏞 on Sunday the 3rd of May set up with an array of sweet🍭 treats of all sorts🍬 and Yes we do have Samples to try😋.

📣Changes After School Holidays📣

🍬If you want to take advantage of free candy making "shows" you'll want to come in this week🍭

🗓It's been a few months and we've finally been able to recognise some form of loose patterns around here🌏
We have decided to run things at a more chill scale than originally planned, so there's going to be some changes to accommodate👌 then from here things should be much smoother sailing ⛵️

Starting Tuesday 21/4

📣 Fridays we will be closed - this will start on Friday 1/5/26
📣Sundays will be market days at Willows Rotary Markets
📣Flinders Coffee Stop will now be the main front of the business and act as a Confection Obsession Stockist.
📣We are still debating as to whether or not to switch the names of the Facebook profiles so you may or may not see that change. 🤷‍♂️
📣Trading hours will change to be 2pm -11:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday. Outside of these hours the kitchen light and coffee machine will be off.

📣Confection Obsession production will operate mostly in the morning from somewhere between 9&10:30am until about 1:30pm, some Fridays, Mondays and Sundays. You're best off calling to see if we are there though.
📣"Shows" will now require a booking. You can still organise these outside of scheduled pour times.
📣If scheduled pour / "show" times do not have any bookings, they will be cancelled. These scheduled times will mostly occur during school holidays.
📣You're still welcome to come in, watch, ask questions etc but our focus will be in the kitchen and you'll be seeing us go about our daily work. The door will be unlocked and tables outside, but no flags etc and retail sales only - when hands are spare.

📣We are starting to ramp up manufacture again, getting ready for peak season, planning for next year and the "rock shows" and some of the expectations around them are putting a huge strain on production to say the least🌩 To get the full run down you will need to book in, otherwise you'll just see us naturally going about our days doing what we need to do, to get by as a small Australian Manufacturer in an industry where every component is ruled by oil price🤑
We need to be focussed and efficient in the kitchen🇦🇺

We know that all of you will understand and appreciate why these changes need to happen💕 Thank you for keeping this little dream going. It's pretty wild and is quite the roller-coaster💕

Honest answer after a lot of thought...we aren't really any of them.🚫
Not enough items to be a shop🛍
Emphasis on both drinks and heavier meals🥓
Far fewer tables and seats than either🪑
Definitely no chefs🍳
Not quite a soda fountain nor a milk bar🍶

🍬It's difficult to put a label on it because the focus isn't on the things we offer, but on the experience you have and environment you enter🍭

🕐We are candy makers - that is what we will always be... 🏡The space we occupy however, think of it more as a second home in the city. It is the space Confection Obsession resides in📍 - where it feels like you're at an uncle / aunties home and they just want to look after you and make you happy through food, drinks and fun😁
Nothing is set in stone here - and when it feels like family, all of a sudden everything becomes a lot easier👌
