Have you ever tried shucking (or opening) oysters?

🦪 We sell live unopened oysters in-store for you to take home and try yourself. We a*o have oyster knives for purchase and we can even give you a little demo if you're keen!

We often get asked what the best way to store live, unopened oysters is. And it depends which species of oyster you purchase...

🦪 Live unopened Sydney Rock Oysters prefer temperatures between 10°c and 15c°. Live unopened Pacific Oysters prefer temperatures between 5°c and 10°c. Most home fridges sit at around 4°C, which is too cold for unopened oysters (unless you can adjust the temperature).

We recommend keeping live oysters in a cool spot instead like a wine fridge, cellar, or a naturally cool room works best. Put a damp cloth or tea towel on top of the oysters, and they will keep for 10 days. Remember to keep the cloth damp every day.
