The Baw Baw Food Hub represents small organic farms in West Gippsland. We are committed to increasing the availability, affordability and accessibility of well-grown organic food. We are keen to see more fresh food grown in West Gippsland, and more direct relationships between farms, farmers and producers, and the people who eat their food. We supply weekly vegetable boxes for local residents at o
ur Warragul warehouse on Tuesday afternoons. The boxes come in three sizes and offer a selection of just-picked, locally grown, certified organic produce. The boxes change from week to week, to include the best of what is in season. In addition to vegetable boxes, we also offer a selection of ‘extras’ such as fresh fruit, dairy products, meat, eggs, bread, preserves, honey, muesli and more, all sourced from local producers. All items can be pre-purchased on our weekly online shop in time for collection or delivery to your doorstep, which is held on Tuesdays. The food hub run by a core team who take care of ordering and administrational matters and enhanced by a great team of volunteers who help with the weekly pack, known affectionately as Box Tuesday. Where we commit to supplying you with your delicious box of organic goodness each week, we rely on you to commit to picking it up within the specified timeframe, paying on collection and returning your box weekly. In addition to our weekly box orders, we host occasional community events. To date, we have held educational film nights, a grower education seminar and an inaugural Grower’s Dinner, with more to come. Each event aims to create a relaxed atmosphere in which to connect our community to its food producers and generate discussion about local, regional and global food issues.
