Greetings to all! As we wind our way into 2025 there is no doubt that this big dry weather pattern has made things fairly tough for many in our community. Personally I have to work at being not too discouraged. It's certainly been an interesting time and I'm seeing things in the garden I have not seen in my 30 years here.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Wirrabara Producers Market and catching up with everyone.
I have a good supply of fruit and veg that I have either managed to protect from the hungry wildlife and the things they really, really don't like.
Peaches have certainly been the crop of the season and the Satsuma plums are also now available. Plus Apple Cucumber are in season and have a lovely flavour this year
Over Christmas a baby female goat was found by my visitors on the roadside. Only a few days old and asking for help... I'm crazy, I know but it s living it's best life as a house dog whom she mimics and hangs out with, providing great entertainment and some light-hearted fun.
After the disappointment of losing 85% of my apricots, eaten green by the lorikeets, I am heartened to be drying a good supply of peaches.
Sharing a few pics, mostly self explanatory. The carrot bed which was amazing, got eaten down to the roots and then they started pulling them up!
Best wishes to all for 2025!
