ঈদের দিনে সকাল শুরুই হয় সেমাইয়ের মিষ্টি স্বাদ দিয়ে। সকালে সেমাই মুখে দিয়ে নামাজে যাওয়ার চল আমাদের দীর্ঘদিনের। কোর্মা পোলাও মাংস যা-ই থাকুক না কেন, বাদাম চিনি দেওয়া সেমাই না থাকলে ঈদ পূর্ণতা পায় না বাঙালির ঘরে। শুকনো জর্দা সেমাই হোক আর ঘিয়ে ভাজা দুধে ভেজানো লাচ্ছা সেমাই—যেমনই হোক না কেন, ঈদের দিনে সেমাই চাই-ই।
