Interested in learning digital design tools used by Indigenous artists?

We are pleased to welcome Joan Williams of Semiahmoo First Nation and Vanessa Serroul of Matsqui First Nation for an upcoming Indigenous Digital Art Workshop. This hands-on session introduces participants to digital illustration and design using commonly used creative tools.

Vanessa will lead a demonstration using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, sharing how she vectorizes her own Indigenous designs and walking through a set design example. Joan will lead with a demonstration using Procreate on the iPad, sharing tips, shortcuts, and general design techniques.

Participants are required to bring their own devices, including iPads, laptops, or tablets. Prior to the workshop, please make sure to downloaded/install Adobe Creative Cloud (on laptops) and Procreate (on iPad) and if you already have a stylus bring it with you. However, it's not necessary to use procreate.

Enhancing Community Cultural Connections through Contemporary Coast Salish Visual Art (Series Title)

This series showcases the dynamic evolution of Coast Salish visual art mediums, styles, and methods.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore either oil or acrylic painting in this workshop.
