Little ones were out enjoying the day. 🥰 so darn cute at this age! Mom took full advantage and had a spa visit in a puddle the rains left last night.

So far, everyone is one big happy family.

This is momma cat.

A few weeks ago one of our customers, Scott, asked if wanted some barn cats. He had two kittens that would be weaned in that next week or so. I said sure! He came back and asked if we would take momma cat too. Of course I said yes!
They took up residence in the greenhouse part of the greenhouse as I would be there lots and we could get to know each other better.

Well! They have been such a delight! The two babies are a spitting image of the momma -orange fluffballs! 🥹 The shy one has warmed up so much you can’t tell them apart. lol
Momma is a great momma! The other day, I watched her bring and leave a small mouse near the babies to catch their attention which it did of one. She sat watching, not close enough to hover but close enough to assist if needed. She would shift location as the cat and mouse play and learn time continued.

Fun fact: momma and babies are the same colour as most of our chickens 😂 fluff balls and fluffy butts! 😂

My only complaint is that one of their favourite spots to lay is on the lettuce starts - no matter where the trays are. 🤦‍♀️

I discovered it at the exact moment I needed and it really did bring tears! It’s actually really heavy and large. I love it!! I have a spot in mind for it for once we move back to the farm stand for the season. 😊

You’ll notice something new in our fridges when you stop by next!

First, thank you so much for bringing your cartons back — we truly appreciate it. Reusing cartons helps us keep costs down, which helps keep egg prices steady for you too. 🥚

Lately the eggs have been flying out of here faster than cartons have been coming back (a big thank-you as well to our friends at Montrose Meats for helping move them along!). Our carton stash has slowly dwindled, and when I went to restock this week, I discovered our usual paper cartons have been discontinued by the supplier.

So, we’re making the switch to the cartons you see pictured. I’ve actually had these on hand for a while as a possible alternative, and now seemed like the right time to start using them.

You’ll also notice the name stickers. I had these made last year before everything was finalized, and rather than let them go to waste, we decided to use them — the cartons looked a little naked without something on them! The next round of stickers will reflect our updated name and information.

As always, we check cartons carefully and take any out of rotation that are worn out or have egg stains — only clean, sturdy ones stay in use.

Thanks again for supporting our little farmstand and for helping us keep things sustainable. Your returns really do make a difference. 💛
