The Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone National Park is one of the most breathtaking scenic drives in the United States, weaving a 142-mile figure-eight through a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. As you travel along this iconic route, every turn reveals a new natural wonder—steaming geysers, cascading waterfalls, vast meadows, and rugged mountain backdrops. The road itself becomes more than just a path; it is an immersive journey through the raw beauty and geothermal power that define Yellowstone.

Driving the Grand Loop is like moving through a living gallery of nature’s finest work. In one moment, you may find yourself surrounded by the vibrant colors and eruptive energy of Grand Prismatic Spring, its rainbow hues shimmering in the sunlight. In another, the thunderous roar of Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River echoes through the canyon, showcasing the sheer force of water carving through ancient rock. Each section of the loop offers its own distinct character, from serene forests to dramatic geothermal basins.

Wildlife adds another layer of magic to the experience. It’s not uncommon to encounter herds of bison slowly crossing the road, elk grazing in open valleys, or even a distant glimpse of a wolf or bear in the wild. These unscripted moments remind travelers that Yellowstone is not just a scenic destination, but a thriving ecosystem where nature still reigns supreme. The Grand Loop Road provides a rare opportunity to witness this delicate balance up close.

What makes the Grand Loop Road truly unforgettable is the sense of scale and timelessness it conveys. The vast landscapes stretch endlessly, shaped by volcanic forces and centuries of natural evolution. Whether bathed in the golden light of sunrise or cloaked in the mist of early morning, the road offers a constantly shifting panorama that leaves visitors in awe. It’s a journey that invites you to slow down, look closer, and appreciate the extraordinary beauty of one of America’s most treasured natural wonders.

🌾 A glimpse into the past… right here on Schubert Road.

We recently came across this incredible old photo of a neighbouring farm and it made us all smile. The land looks familiar… the work feels familiar… and yet so much has changed.

Farming in the Armstrong–Spallumcheen area has deep roots. In the late 1800s, early settlers worked these same fields with horses and hand tools, growing a mix of grain, vegetables, and raising livestock to support their families and the growing community. When the railway arrived, local farms began feeding not just the valley, but communities far beyond.

By the early 1900s, this area earned the nickname “Celery City,” as farmers transformed wetland into rich, productive soil, growing vegetables that were shipped across the country. After the war years, dairy farming became a cornerstone here—shaped in part by Dutch immigrants who brought with them a strong tradition of farming and cheese-making that still influences the region today.

And here we are… generations later.

Different equipment, new technologies, but the same land, the same seasons, and the same commitment to growing healthy food.

It’s not lost on us how fortunate we are to live and work in a place where agriculture isn’t just history . . . it’s still very much alive.

🐖Henry and Vincent need a home!🐖

Henry is a bold and curious guy looking for a good home. He can be a bit unsure of people at times, but he is very passionate about food. Having been housed in rough conditions before coming into our care, we are recommending keeping Henry on a tailored diet to keep him nice and healthy.

We are ideally looking for a home that can take both Henry and Vincent in, as they’ll do best together.

You can contact us at [email protected] with any questions.
Please note that we require an adoption questionnaire to be filled out in order to be able to set up viewing appointments. Our dedicated staff will reach out to the first suitable adopter to set up a visit. Learn more about these two at https://ow.ly/7UpL50Yqonh. | BC SPCA Surrey

🌷 With the days getting longer and spring on its way, spring cleaning is just around the corner!

🪺 Wild baby season has started, which means you may have birds or mammals nesting or denning in your yard. Bird nests can be difficult to spot (especially hummingbird nests, which can be as tiny as a toonie!), so it is important to be wildlife-aware while trimming trees, mowing the lawn, and more!
