Another sweet, healthy heifer calf born today to a first time mama!

We’ll be keeping an extra close eye on the cow and calf to make sure they bond and to make sure that feeding goes well.

Aug 1:

Started the morning out with a mini rodeo to wrangle this calf back in!

There’s one every year - an escapee that’s constantly testing the strength of gates and fences. Sometimes the calves get pushed out through the feeders but luckily when it happens, they don’t go far away from their mama.

PSA - if you own livestock, you’re never done fencing. At best you’re just taking breaks from it!

Jul 30:
Talk about great hay weather - hot sun and low humidity 👌

Raking and baling around 10 acres of 3rd cut hay today and then cutting the remaining 35 acres of alfalfa after the rain in the forecast.

Our weather apps get a workout this time of year trying to find good windows to cut, rake and bale hay without it getting rained on! 🤓
