Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning at 4:37 AM ADT on October 30, 2025, for several counties in Nova Scotia, including Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth, Halifax Metro, Halifax County West, and the eastern part of Halifax County beyond Porters Lake.
On Halloween, rain is expected along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia from Yarmouth to Ecum Secum, with periods of heavy rainfall and strong winds. Total rainfall amounts are forecasted to be between 40 and 50 mm, with localized areas receiving up to 60 mm of rain. Wind gusts will reach up to 70 km/h, coming from the east to southeasterly direction.
The rain and strong winds will persist from Friday morning until Friday evening. The heaviest rain is expected to taper off to scattered showers by early Friday afternoon in the southwest and by late afternoon moving eastward toward Halifax County. As the rain diminishes, winds will shift to strong southwesterlies and continue throughout the prime trick-or-treating hours on Friday evening.
Residents are advised to clear storm drains and gutters of leaves and debris before the rainfall to reduce the risk of flooding. Additionally, securing outdoor items, including Halloween decorations and garbage bins, is recommended to prevent damage or displacement caused by the strong winds.
