Hi Friends,

Our family would like to welcome you to join us at our local Farmers' Market here in Bradford for a day in honour of our late Mother, Josie.

Many of you know Josie from the store, where she served the community for over 35 years. Her store was her passion, a place where customers became family and a place where she shared what she loved to do.

Josie wishes were to keep her battle with cancer private as she wanted things to run as usual. She worked in her store, up until the day it closed as that brought her joy. Unfortunately, one year ago our mom, Josie passed away. She has been greatly missed. As a family, we wanted to pay it forward to Matthews House Hospice, who has shown incredible passion and support that goes beyond words.

We welcome you all to join us on September 14th, at the Bradford Farmers Market where we are set up with all our meats and cheeses. All profits will be directly donated to Matthews House.

It will be a fun-filled day from 9am-1pm.

Bring the kids as we will have face painting and other activities!

As usual, we will be sampling all our meats and cheeses for an incredible food tasting experience.

This event truly means a lot to us and our family. One year ago, we lost our Mother, Josie to cancer. Many of you may know Josie from our family salumeria, where she served the community for over 35 years. Josie loved her customers, who became family. Sharing her passion for food every day brought her incredible happiness, which we are honoured to be able to continue the tradition. Matthews House Hospice provided compassion and incredible care, so we would like to pay it forward. Please come out and show support. It's going to be a fun day!

Our Story

Family, food and tradition...

In 1959, founder, Joe De Maria immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for him and his family.He arrived by ocean liner and landed at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With him he did not have much money, but brought treasured family recipes for making preserved meats, cheese, wine and more.

By 1972, he had opened 6 stalls in local farmers markets’ across Ontario selling hand crafted salami and specialty meats using local ingredients. That spring, him and his wife Josie also opened a small store and facility in Cookstown, Ontario which he called 27 Country Market.

Today, 27 Country Market remains open to the public and is home to 2 sister companies including European Meat and Speziale Fine Foods. We also continue to share our passion at local farmers’ markets, festivals and events within the Ontario community.
