The Cookbook Co. Cooks

The Cookbook Co. Cooks For All Things Culinary: Cooking Classes, Kitchenware and Specialty Foods, Food and Wine Tours The Cookbook Co. Good food is about having fun in the kitchen.

Cooks store and school is a culinary hub for Calgary. It all started in 1984 and has since grown to become a place for people who cook and love to eat good food. We believe that good food doesn't have to be complicated or pretentious. We want to try to demystify gourmet food, and its preparation. Preparing good food should not be about stressing out – it's about sharing and exploring and enjoying

the slicing and dicing! Our 11th Avenue location features 2,000 sq feet of delicious retail space, as well as a cooking school space that plays host to over hundreds of cooking classes, wine classes, specialty dinners and workshops each year, hosted by the best chefs, food professionals, and authors in our city and guest chefs from across Canada. Our cooking classes are casual, entertaining, and informative. The underlying belief of The Cookbook Co. Cooks is to emphasize the enjoyable part of food, cooking, and time spent together in the kitchen and at the table....

You have to eat, so it might as well be interesting!

✨Fresh Alberta asparagus is here!

This asparagus comes from Tamminga Farms in Cranford, Alberta. Tamminga Farms is family owned and operated, and has been supplying southern Alberta with fresh locally grown asparagus for over 20 years!

The season is short, so come by for a bundle of these beautiful spring spears.

But, what wine to serve? Whilst the temptation may be to pair asparagus with a herbaceous white such as Sauvignon Blanc or Grüner Veltliner, Metrovino prefers to follow food writer Ed Behr’s advice. In his book, “50 Foods,” Behr () argues that a more harmonious match can be achieved with a white wine such as Viognier. This is truly a pairing of contrasts: green and savoury meets floral and fruity.

For those who don’t do things in half-measures, we recommend Condrieu, the most celebrated home of Viognier wines. This small region in the northern Rhône Valley in France is synonymous with the grape variety and fortuitously, we’ve recently received the latest from .

2024 Pierre Gaillard Condrieu $80

See the link in the bio to order your bottle, and come by to pick your asparagus!

✨🌾Small-batch granola, made in Alberta!

Onie Granola contains simple ingredients and tastes so good! Made with oats grown by Canadian farmers, this granola has a lovely crunch, and the clusters are light and tender. Every bite is balanced with core flavours of coconut, almond, and maple syrup coming through.

Whether you enjoy it for breakfast or as a sweet snack, Onie Granola is a delicious addition to your day. Choose from Lemon Sour Cherry and Almond Cardamom Coconut. Yum!
