Cheese Cutter/Packager Position
Role Overview
Empire Cheese located in Campbellford, Ontario is currently looking for a product cutter/packager. The candidate will be responsible for handling and cutting our hand-crafted cheese.
Key Responsibilities
• Operating machinery to cut, shred, slice and package product.
• Physically cutting, packaging and labeling products.
• Pulling product (40lb blocks of cheese) from cold storage.
• Inspecting the quality of product and packaging, catching and preventing errors
• Stocking cheese in the cold room.
• Bagging, packaging, weighing curd
• Organizing cheese by date of production, flavor and size.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized work space.
• Perform light maintenance when required on equipment, carts, machinery, etc
• Chemical handling.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced environment
• Standing for long periods of time
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and repetitive lifting up to 40lbs.
• Willingness to follow instructions.
• Ability to keep and maintain document records
• High attention to cleanliness and detail, including adhering to Quality and HACCP standards, as well follow procedures to ensure zero non-conformances with regards to CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) audits and inspections.
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working in a team setting.
Working Environment:
• Working in warm humid conditions.
• Working in walk in refrigerators.
• Working at a fast pace
Job Type: Varied hours
-April to December- Monday to Thursday-5am start-end time will vary on production requirements-hours 35-44 average per week-Fridays are worked only on weeks before statutory holidays
-January to March- 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday)-5am start time-end time will vary on production requirements-hours 25-30 average per week
Pay: Starting at $25.00 per hour
