Ranch, Our Story
In 2009 Bryn and Barb sold their ranch and bought a smaller parcel of land back where Barb was born in the Tadmore/Crystal Lake district of East Central Saskatchewan. On the farm they raise Berkshire pigs, Red Rock and brown chickens for eggs and in the summer meat birds as well as a few turkeys. This year spring lambs were added to the mix. The land is certified organic with E
CO-CERT. The animals are paddock grazed outside year round. The fowl of course are housed inside during the winter months. Spring to fall the animals are eating and weeding the gardens and pastures. Cars often drive by and stop to gaze at the animals in the pastures. Chickens keep the fruit trees weeded, pigs clean out gardens of weeds and roots, turkeys and guinea fowl keep the mosquitoes and ticks under control and the sheep keep the grass trimmed. All the animals keep the pastures trimmed as that is their main source of feed as well as the grubs and insects that they enjoy throughout the season. They provide fertilizer to the plants and when their life cycle is complete they provide food for our tables. We feel so blessed and grateful to have such abundance that we can share our bounty with others who can’t grow their own food. Our farm is open for visits, we ask that you call ahead of time to make sure someone is there and we encourage people to shop farm gate, which means picking up your products at our farm! We are always adding products and services. We have recently acquired a church building. It is located on our farm overlooking our beautiful Loch Owen (lake). We intend to use it for workshops, socials and country weddings. Look for our farm fun day this coming September and join us for a real farm BBQ and social. We may even have some home-made ice-cream on hand if we are very lucky! Bryn Owen and Barb Fraser Box 1014, Canora, SK. S0A 0L0
