This team can't be "beet!" 😉

The Downtown Chilliwack Community Market is a not-for-profit farmers market run by a passionate board of directors, along with a small but dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

The market began in 2021, during the height of COVID, when food insecurity was rising and our community needed a safe, outdoor space to gather and connect. Since then, it has grown into so much more than a place to access local food.

Today, the market is a free weekly event that many in the community rely on. It’s where people come to pick up fresh groceries, find unique gifts and handmade treasures, let their kids play in the playground, splash pad, and kids zone, and enjoy live music from local artists.

It’s also the perfect spot to bring your dog and enjoy a shaded, walkable space while spending a relaxing Saturday with friends, family, and neighbours.

With the help of our board, staff, volunteers, vendors and customers, we have helped over $115000 worth of fresh locally grown food make its way into the homes of families and seniors who need it. That's something to be proud of! Every time you come to the market and support a vendor, you are helping us continue the fight against food insecurity in Chilliwack, AND you are contributing to our thriving local economy that we have helped grow over the past 5 years.

Thank you to one of our 2026 Community Sponsors, the Fraser Valley Labour Council! 🎉

As a not-for-profit organization, sponsorships are essential to keeping our market running, and helping us in the fight against food insecurity.

A little about the FVLC from their website:

The Fraser Valley Labour Council (FVLC) was chartered by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) on January 17, 2007. The FVLC serves the communities of the Fraser Valley and Canyon including Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Agassiz, Harrison, Hope, Lytton and Boston Bar. The FVLC works to promote fairness and improve daily life for everyone in the community, through advocacy and education.

The Labour Council is made up of members from local unions and organizations affiliated to the CLC. We represent over 12,000 members from affiliated unions. Our members can be found working in offices, supermarkets, factories, forests, the media, construction sites, hospitals, hotels, stadiums, schools, transportation systems, and even the corner coffee shop.

Thank you Fraser Valley Labour Council for your continued support!

Thank you to one of our 2026 Community Sponsors, the UFV Faculty and Staff Association! 🎉

As a not-for-profit organization, sponsorships are essential to keeping our market running, and helping us in the fight against food insecurity.

A little about the UFV-FSA from their website:

The UFV Faculty & Staff Association represents more than 1,300 faculty, professionals, teaching and academic support faculty, and staff at the University of the Fraser Valley. [Their] working dues help us maintain a strong association.

Having one union represent all employees within an institution makes [their] FSA unique among BC post-secondary institutions. We believe that having these diverse groups in one larger union makes us stronger. The workplace experiences, as well as the interests and needs of FSA members, are broad and diverse. But being together in the same association helps us to understand and respect each other’s work. It also gives us strength in voicing, promoting, and protecting the interests and rights of our members. Ultimately, a more cohesive workforce provides better service for our students.

Thank you UFV-FSA for your continued support!

Eggs are in high demand at the DCCM! As a versatile source of protein and other essential nutrients, they help fill a critical gap in the diets of people experiencing food insecurity. They're also just downright delicious!

Are you thinking of selling eggs (or other food items) at the DCCM? Here are some great benefits to becoming a vendor at our market that you might not be aware of:

💸We have the lowest stall fees in the Fraser Valley!

We wouldn't have a market without dedicated vendors who invest their money, time, and efforts to sell with us. We do our very best to keep stall fees affordable for you. We also offer reduced stall fees to farm vendors, volume discounts for multiple dates, and waived stall fees for Indigenous vendors.

🎟Strong vendor support through the BC Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program

This incredible program, facilitated by the BC government, offers nutrition coupons to individuals experiencing food insecurity, with a focus on families and seniors. These coupons are used by those individuals to shop for produce, eggs, honey, dairy, fish, or meat products at farmers markets. Vendors accept the coupons as cash, and they are reimbursed at the end of each market. It's truly a win-win for vendors and community members.

🚶High foot traffic from District 1881 and Central Village

We are located at Central Community Park, a beautiful park centrally located in Downtown Chilliwack. We are just a few steps from iconic District 1881 and Central Village, shopping centres that are highly populated on Saturdays. While we have a dedicated group of regular customers, we also see a high volume of tourists and sightseers looking to take a bit of Chilliwack home with them.

👍Support a local nonprofit fighting food insecurity in Chilliwack

Did you know that 24.4% of British Columbians lack consistent access to nutritious food? Since our founding in 2021, the DCCM's main focus has always been fighting food insecurity in Chilliwack. Being a vendor with us means that you are directly supporting local food security initiatives in your community.
