Organic Garlic Scapes are only $5/lb right now and you know what that means...

Garlic Scape pesto is a a beautiful spring version of traditional pesto and it's so easy to customize.

You can utilize any nut of your choice, we just had some pine nuts to use up but I also love my pesto with walnuts or pumpkin seeds.

Of course you can opt for traditional Parmesan instead of Nutritional yeast (or you could do both).

Here is the recipe!
1 Bunch of Garlic Scapes (around 175g)
2 sprigs of Basil (35g)
Juice of one medium sized lemon
1/4 cup Nutritional Yeast (or parmesan)
1/3 cup Olive Oil
1/3 cup pine nuts (or any nuts of your choice)

Now, you don't have to be exact here, I differ to tasting as I go and deciding what I want.

This pesto keeps for 1 week in the fridge or for 6 months in the freezer (I love my silicon freezer mold to help me portion it).

Have fun with it!

Garlic Scapes are now available in our Market for $5/lb
(Sorry for the loud hay noises)

How to cook with Garlic Scapes ⬇️

They are similar in texture to asparagus so they can be pan fried and make a great addition to pasta dishes

Last night we chopped some up and added it to our fried rice!

But you can also make tons of pesto with it and it freezes up great to make a beautiful addition to any pasta dish.

Mr. Tomato head 🍅
Read more about our tomato variety’s we are growing on the farm ⬇️🌱

This year we kinda over shot our expectations for how many tomatoes we would grow, meaning that we have 200 tomato plants , when we probably only needed 1/3 of that on the farm.
In previous years we had about 1/10th of what we have grown this time, mostly because we had less hands to tend to them as they grew.

But thanks to our prolific tomato growing efforts we are also offering our plants for sale at the market!
Only $12 for one of our giant tomato plants in a 1 gallon pot! 🌱

We re offering 3 different varieties that are all organic!

Manitoba Tomatoes (side 3) - Manitoba tomatoes are an heirloom variety, they are a bit more cold hardy making them a good option if you’re in a windy area. They are an early producer and well suited for preserving.

Old German (slide 4) - These are a nearly seedless beefstake tomato, that have funky leaves called ‘potato leafs’ , these are a more golden tomato which means they are less acidic. They are sweet and medium to large tomatoes in size.

Tiny Tim (slide 5) - our cherry tomato variety, bushy and great for porch planters as they stay a more reasonable size. They do well even in more shaded areas and produce for a longer time. These cherry tomatoes are sweet!

It’s best to wait till it’s warmer than 13 Celsius to plant outside, till then you can keep them in the pots and bring them in at night!
They need to be watered every other day throughly! 💧
