4 years ago today.

I shook Alan’s hand, got the keys to this empty building, and officially took possession of what would become the first Dante’s Delicatessen.

The next morning I showed up with a crowbar and my little toolbox. I covered the windows with paper so nobody could see what I was doing and started ripping the place apart myself.

I really had no idea what that handshake was going to turn into.

Four years later, Dante’s has grown into two delis, an entire cafeteria division stretching from the Niagara region to Renfrew County, a catering division serving everyone from schools and hockey organizations to government institutions, political events, racing teams and major corporations, and a growing wholesale division supplying our products to other businesses.

A lot has happened in four years. A lot of long days, mistakes, lessons, risks, wins, losses and figuring s**t out as we went.

But looking at this picture, the craziest part to me is that I genuinely feel like we’ve only scratched the surface.

I’m proud of what our team has built, proud of where we came from, and extremely excited about where we’re going.

Four years down. We’re just getting started.

Nothing like a rainy day visit to our Madawaska Valley cafeteria! 🌧️🥪

Stopped in today to catch up with Donna, who is ready to rock and roll for another year serving the students and staff in Barry’s Bay!

Donna has been a huge part of our team, and it’s always great getting out to our different locations to see everyone in action.

Tomorrow we’re back to school! 🍎🥪

Our GTA and Niagara school cafeterias officially kick off their 2026–2027 school year tomorrow!

Here’s a look at one of the newest additions to the Dante’s Delicatessen family in Welland, Ontario. Sharon and Jeff are set up and ready to rock & roll for their first day! 💪

This location is a pretty special one for us. What started as one small deli in the Ottawa Valley has continued to grow, and seeing the Dante’s name now operating cafeterias hundreds of kilometres from home is something we’re incredibly proud of.

A lot of work happens behind the scenes to get these cafeterias stocked, staffed, trained and ready for September and tomorrow, it all comes to life.

Good luck to Sharon, Jeff, and all of our cafeteria teams starting another school year tomorrow! ❤️
