GOODLAND apples are now available. A lovely early season CANADIAN apple. A Patten Greening seedling, they were developed at the Morden Research Station in Manitoba on 1925 . They are crispy and sweet with just a bit of zing and are excellent for eating, pies and sauce. Our trees are just starting to produce so they will not be around for long. They are slow to oxidize so they are good for salads and fruit trays.

GINGER GOLD. 1960's Virginia. Named after apple grower Ginger Harvey. They are from a chance seedling found growing along the edge of the Harvey's orchard after it was destroyed by Hurricane Camille in 1969. They are wonderfully crispy, juicy and both sweet and tart! Great for eating, baking and sauce. Do not oxidize quickly so they are nice for salads and fruit trays.

Beautiful Dolgo crabapples; headed for Cobourg Farmers' Market today.

Dolgo crabapples were found growing in Siberia, date unknown. They are the earliest of our three crabapple varieties, and make the prettiest crabapple jelly!

Cool bit of trivia. If you like really tart apples, and don't mind eating them a handful at a sitting, Dolgo crabapples are for you! They are delicious bites of flavourful tartness.

It's s beginning to smell a lot like APPLES! New Crop Paulared and Scotia Mac apples to be precise.

PAULARED are an early McIntosh chance seedling. A tree was found growing near a block of McIntosh by Lewis Arends in Sparta Township, Michigan in 1961. They were named after Pauline Arends.

Dad used to say that Paulared will do everything a McIntosh will do, but a month earlier. They are great for eating, pies, and sauce. Hard and tart at the beginning of their season, they mellow and get sweeter as time rolls on.

SCOTIA MAC were first introduced in 1961. They were developed at the Federal Agricultural Research Station in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Scotia are also an open pollinated descendant of the McIntosh.

SCOTIA start out tart, but mellow more quickly than the Paulared. They make THE MOST AMAZING apple sauce, fluffy and puffy! They are so fluffy when cooked, that they pop the tops off of pies! These are the apples that we make into apple sauce for all Moore adjacent babies!

SCOTIA's are great CANADIAN apples that are only available for a short time.

Summer is just skipping along! For Cobourg Farmers' Market today we have BLUEBERRIES and the first of our VISTA BELLA apples.

Vista Bella are an "Early Harvest" apple, along the lines of a Yellow Transparent. They are on the tart side, and are great for eating, baking and sauce. They don't have a long shelf life, so keep them in the fridge, and use them up. Do NOT keep them under your bed!
