π Calling all dragon boat clubs across Canada!π¨π¦π
Dragon Boat Canada is excited to help spread the word about Making Waves for Autism, a national fundraising initiative supporting Autism Canada through paddling, community, and inclusion. πΆβ¨
Running June 1 to June 30, clubs and paddlers across the country are coming together to raise funds and awareness while showing that the paddling community truly can make waves together. ππ€
Clubs participate through the β365 Challenge,β where club members collectively paddle 365 kilometres while raising funds and awareness for autism. The number 365 represents the reality that autism impacts individuals and families 365 days a year, and highlights the importance of year-round support, acceptance, and inclusion. πβΎοΈ
The challenge is intentionally designed to be flexible and easy for clubs to incorporate into activities they may already be doing. Clubs can complete the 365 kilometres:
β’ In one day
β’ Over a weekend
β’ Throughout the month of June
β’ During practices, races, community paddles, or special club events ππ£ββοΈβοΈ
Many clubs have paired the challenge with things like BBQs, pancake breakfasts, time trials, or community paddle days to make it a fun club-wide event. ππ₯π
Participation is designed to be simple, with fundraising pages, promotional materials, and support provided to help clubs get involved.
We encourage clubs across the country to take a look and consider joining this growing national movement. Together, we can make waves for autism. ππ
