Good afternoon everyone. Today we would like to make some clarification after the uproar of comments and rumours circulating around Cornwall.
First, Remington’s deli & bar is not open nor operating. We respect and understand what is happening in our community in relation to the COVID-19 virus. We received a memo from the EOHU stating the mandatory closure would be coming into effect March 18th, 2020 which we followed and closed on the mandated date hence why we were not shut down st Patrick’s day on March 17th, 2020
Secondly, on st. Patrick’s day we did not have a big party of 30-50 people in attendance rather a small group of family and friends around 10-15 people. Extra precautionary measures were taking for hosting our small gathering, such as available hand sanitizer on tables, gloves, masks and our staff working extra hard to ensure cleanliness. We did not force any employees to work on this day rather left it up to them if they wanted to be apart of our event.
Thirdly, we would like to ensure everyone that Remington’s has not received any fines or legal trouble for remaining open for that day. We closed at midnight then the Cornwall community police came to make sure our small gathering was finished on the mandated day March 18th, 2020 at 12:00 am, once they saw that Remington’s complied with the mandate they left.
We understand that many in the community are outraged and in fact confused as to why we would have remained open. We would like to formally apologize to any and all who were offended by our gathering.
We do hope this brief message brings some clarification to the circulation rumours and comments we have been receiving. Remington’s deli & bar would never endanger lives nor try to stir up such an uproar. We hope you all have a good week and stay safe during these hard times. We hope to see you all soon!
