There is nothing boring about being an ingredient household.

We don't usually buy strawberries out of season but celebrated love day with a divine treat today 🤤
Also seen are homemade marshmallows we obviously had to try dipped

Thanks to for the chocolate!

Tis the season mother nature gives the perfect opportunity to thaw the freezers as they're slowly emptying in preparation for the next year's fill!

We've personally never bought self defrosting freezers as the fluctuating temperatures to keep it thawed has to affect the longevity of the food inside 🤷‍♀️

That's just us though, the more simple, old school technology, the less to go wrong

We also don't own a "smart" TV or appliance/device, everything analog when possible, we like things the old reliable way ❤️

What a task!

For reference, disassembling a store is a lot harder than building one...

Building we're full of inspiration, excitement, and trust, and it's a whole energy!

Disassembling apparently is just laced with a background hue of heartbreak. You touch every piece of design again but to tuck it away vs. putting it out with pride to share

Even though we know the hardest decision we made was the right one, it doesn't mean there's not crap to work through 😵‍💫
(that's growth whispering)

The difference though, building the store it was the 4 of us Tammy, Mark, (then) 12yr old Isabel and 9yr old Audrey, and thankfully, the excitement fueled us to do it!

3 years later (closing), the amount of support from our community this past month (especially this weekend) has had us emotional ❤️

People just showing up to help us get through this as a community 🥲 made it doable, THANK YOU!

I encourage you to take risks, listen to your callings, get uncomfortable, and put yourself out there!
But also remember to always assess the balance and not get stuck.

We ALL get to choose our path, make yourself proud #1

We will never regret opening (or closing) a store

We've taken as much as we could out of the space that made it so beautiful, but of course, the biggest piece of my heart is the tiling. I laid it during late nights, my girls "buttering" the tiles as I needed to place them, placing them, taking them off, resetting them so it would flow just perfect... had to stay.

I hope the next occupant in the space will love them, but if not, I hope the person that has to destroy it to esthetically change it hurts just a little for just for a moment 😉

4 years ago an idea was laid on my heart and we decided to chase a dream.

We met with the bank, the accountant, the landlords, wholesale companies, contractors, other zero waste stores... travelling the province chasing a wild idea

We sat with it all and decided this was something worth the risk, we signed a 3 year lease and got to it!
We could give 3 years and reevaluate. We were all in and gave it everything. But in the end I donated every ounce that I had to the store while the rest of our life felt like it was falling apart and we knew it was time to pivot when that lease was approaching.

We did the store build almost all ourselves, we put countless hours repurposing things, building and finishing the shelves, designing, tiling, it was our second biggest “project” we had done together and it turned out so perfect. It feels like home (until the plants left)
This was the definition of passion project we got to share with all of you.

3 years ago (today actually) we opened Tare Necessities and what a wild ride. I always say I’m glad I know to jump and trust the ride because if I knew all the details ahead of me I’d never make a move.
We’re better now than we were when we started. And my goodness have we found our people ❤️

For now I intend on keeping our socials page active but focus more on the back end of how and why we live the way we do. Like a prequel to tare? Get to know us a bit better, but I’ll be completely transparent, I dont like to be sucked in to online. So I’m sure until we find our groove we’ll be awfully random 🤭

Please stick around if keeping in touch appeals to you, absolutely no hard feelings if our journey together is over and you want to unfollow ❤️

Thank you one more time and sending so much love to every single one of you that has been a part of our tare chapter

We are officially CLOSED and moving out.
