πŸ‡βœ¨ Meet Pearl βœ¨πŸ‡

Our newest farm resident arrived this week, and we're already quite fond of her πŸ’›

Pearl is a Californian doe with plenty of experience and a calm, gentle nature. She's settling in nicely and enjoying all the attention that comes with being the new girl on the farm.

We're excited to have her here and can't wait to see what the future holds for this lovely lady.

Welcome to Pot of Gold Farm, Pearl πŸ‡πŸ’›

πŸ”πŸŒΏ A big day for the meat birds! πŸŒΏπŸ”

At 4 weeks old, they got their first taste of fresh grass today and were more than happy to explore their new surroundings.

It's one of my favourite milestones each season β€” watching them move from the brooder to pasture, where they'll spend their days enjoying sunshine, fresh air, and green grass.

Tiny chicks no more! πŸ’›

🐝🎨 A little test run before the main event!

Tried out some paint and stencils on a couple of nuc boxes today to see how everything would look. Safe to say I'm pretty happy with the results πŸ’›

Now to see what other creative ideas might find their way onto a few more bee boxes... 🐝✨

πŸπŸ”¨ It's starting to look like beekeeping season around here! πŸ”¨πŸ

The latest batch of hive boxes is assembled and lined up, ready for their base coat.

There's something satisfying about seeing a stack of boxes go from a pile of lumber to future homes for thousands of bees. One board, one nail, one box at a time.

Now it's time for paint, followed by a whole lot of bees, brood, nectar, and hopefully plenty of honey πŸ―πŸ’›

The spring bee projects just keep rolling!

🐾🌱 Warm weather and outdoor projects mean Rusty is never too far away πŸ’›

Today he stayed on the opposite side of the greenhouse wire while I worked inside, but every time I looked up… there he was. Slowly following along the outside as I moved my way down the greenhouse 🐱 🌿

He absolutely loves the greenhouse and normally wants to β€œhelp” with every project, but today it seemed best for this part that he supervise from outside πŸ˜…

Still, he stayed close the entire time. Quietly keeping watch like he always does.

πŸβ˜€οΈ One of those perfect spring farm days β˜€οΈπŸ

The bees were flying hard today, pollen is pouring in, and the apiary is buzzing with life. Farmer John was out checking colonies while the hoop house stood shining in the background β€” two of our favourite farm projects side by side πŸ’›πŸŒ±

Days like this make all the hard work worth it.

🌱🌿 The grow tent is FULL again… somehow πŸ˜…πŸŒΏπŸŒ±

We’ve already emptied it once with plants heading out to the greenhouse, and now every shelf is packed again with seedlings waiting for their final homes in the garden and hoop houses.

Even with much better planning and scheduling this year, we still somehow ended up with too many plants πŸ˜‚
(Does a gardener ever truly learn?)

That said, spreading our seed starting out more carefully this season has made things feel a lot less overwhelming compared to previous years β€” and it’s been really nice watching everything grow at a steadier pace.

Now comes the fun part… finding space for it all 🌱✨
