𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 ☀️ ⁣

Our cows and calves are eagerly awaiting the grass to grow lush and full so they can play outside all summer long! ⁣
⁣
We pasture select cows and their calves on a large pasture that we rent for the season. This is so beneficial for our herd in many ways; it gives them time outdoors and all the nutrients and benefits associated with grazing but it also relieves our barns. ⁣
⁣
When animals go to pasture, it means ⁣
⁣
- less feed consumption so we can reserve our stores a bit ⁣
- less manure in the barn to deal with⁣
- happier cows and calves enjoying free choice feeding and lounging as they please ⁣
⁣
Typically they go to pasture mid-June until well into the late fall. The land must be ready for them - sending them too early means less nutrient dense forage, and can also damage the soil. It’s a perfect balancing act, and Mother Nature is in charge! ⁣
