I realized that the Flyovers don't really show much of the area surrounding the farm, so I took a 360 degree shot showing Mount Prevost and the Auchinachie Valley. The man who homesteaded this piece of land early in the 1900's was Peter Auchinachie... he was from the northern part of Scotland, and his last name is an ancient Picktish word; the Picts were in the British Isles long before the Celts arrived. It is pronounced oh-HAN-i-key (kinda like O'Hanikey.)

Originally this was a dairy farm and the farm house was built in 1911... before we came along it had been used for boarding horses for many years... now we are in the process of creating healthy living soil, but much of it involves restoring the soil, thus the regenerative farming approach.

You can see them removing the big bales of hay on the adjacent property, and the neighbor on East has his wrapped; our hay was already removed by the guy who leases it and he did rectangular bales this year. He wasn't too happy that the new ponds cut into the hayfield. 😕
