Our Story
Here at Forestedge we believe that raising beef the old fashioned way is the best way. Our animals spend their days on grass, not feedlot muck. No growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticide spray or other "production enhancement" products are used. We can't claim the beef as "organic" but that is what we strive for. This method of raising beef makes the meat flavourful and, we believe, healthier! Our beef eat hay and grass off of our farm, then are "finished" for 3 months with a twice a day grain ration to increase the fat marbling (and flavour) in the meat. This is not to be confused with the heavy grain feeding of feedlots trying to pack weight on their beef, our grain feeding is just enough to enhance the flavour in the meat. We take our animals to a government inspected facility and the meat is cut according to our customers cutting instructions. We sell our beef by mixed quarters, halves or the whole animal and charge by the "hanging weight". The cuts are wrapped in brown paper, packed in boxes and frozen. We require a 300 dollar non-refundable deposit to order and the balance to be paid when the meat is ready. We can deliver your beef for a small fee or arrange to meet in the Westlock area on the day the meat is ready for pick-up.
