Fibre may not be flashy, but it does plenty of quiet, important work! 🌿

It helps keep digestion regular, supports heart health and steady blood sugar, nourishes our gut bacteria, and helps us feel satisfied longer.

That’s just one reason we’re so happy to have Green Bowl Foods on our shelves! Their convenient, plant-based meals are made with fibre-rich ingredients, and they upcycle nutritious foods such as barley and vegetable pulp that might otherwise go to waste.

And hey - Green Bowl is a Canadian Company! Love it 🍁

Good for busy days, happy bellies and the planet 💚

Well, look what we found! A Finn-approved cold brew! 🐾☕️

To be very clear, this product is not for canine consumption. Finn simply approves of the name, and the fact that once his humans drink it, the chances of a fun (long) walk increase dramatically. 😂

Made in Winnipeg by Sheepdog Brew Co., this nitro cold brew is:

🐾 Made with organic coffee beans
🐾 Slowly cold-brewed for 18 hours
🐾 Double-filtered for a smooth, bold flavour
🐾 Velvety in texture with a low-acid finish
🐾 Free from preservatives and artificial additives

Just simple ingredients and seriously good coffee!

Available in Traditional and Ethiopian...both officially Finn-approved🐶

☀️ Ya, it's definitely too hot to cook. And why should we?

Here's an idea...

I (the little typer behind the Aura page, hi!) made a tzatziki-inspired spread using the teeny tiny garlic "flowers" you find inside the bulby-end of a garlic scape:

🥒 1 cup full-fat yogurt
🥒 ¼ cup cream cheese (can you tell I like richness???)
🥒 1 tablespoon lemon juice
🥒 2 minced garlic cloves
🥒 1 grated Persian cucumber, with the liquid squeezed out
🥒 ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix everything together, then top with crushed garlic flowers (or scapes), a little more cayenne, and a drizzle of olive oil.

I spread this generously over an Arabic pita, add sliced tomatoes, cucumber spears and pea shoots, sprinkle with za’atar, and a little swirl of EVOO, then roll it up and love. 💚

Cool, fresh, filling and absolutely no oven required!

A new Canadian study is giving families something worth thinking about, not something to feel guilty about. 💚

Researchers followed more than 2,000 Canadian children and found that, at age three, ultra-processed foods supplied an average of almost half of their daily food energy. Higher intake was associated with small increases in behavioural and emotional difficulties at age five.

The study doesn’t prove that these foods caused the changes, but it does add to a growing conversation about the foods children eat regularly.

And an important reminder: “processed” doesn’t automatically mean unhealthy. Frozen fruit and vegetables, canned beans, plain yogurt, oats and whole-grain bread can all be nourishing and convenient. Canada’s Food Guide suggests focusing on foods that don’t add excessive sodium, sugars or saturated fat.

One helpful shopping tool is Canada’s new black-and-white “High in” symbol, now appearing on packaged foods that are high in saturated fat, sugars or sodium.

We can't be perfect 100% of the time, and convenience foods absolutely have a place. The goal is simply to make a little more room, whenever real life allows, for more simple, nourishing foods.

Small choices. No guilt. And a little grace.

One health trend we hope never goes out of style: eating food grown close to home. This should never be a trend, it should be a wonderful way-of-life🌿

Local produce doesn’t need a fancy wellness name. It’s fresh, colourful, full of variety, and it connects us to the people and land around us.

Our local deliveries arrive every Thursday and Saturday, and opening those boxes feels a little like opening summer itself.

What local vegetable makes you happiest to see each summer?

Prebiotics. Probiotics. Fermented foods....

Gut health can sound much more complicated than it needs to be.

Here’s the simplest version:

🌱 Prebiotic foods help feed the helpful organisms already living in your gut.

🥣 Probiotic foods contain helpful live cultures.

Think oats, beans, bananas, onions and garlic on the prebiotic side—and foods such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut and some kombuchas on the probiotic side.

Variety matters more than chasing one supposedly perfect “gut-health” food, after all, it is the spice of life!

Not every hot afternoon calls for another coffee. Sometimes you just want - neeeeed - something cold, refreshing and a little more interesting than plain water. 🍋

Try chilled herbal tea with citrus, coconut water over ice, a sparkly apple cider with fresh berries, or iced water dressed up with mint, lemons, or cucumber.

No dramatic promises. No miracle “detox.” Just something delicious that helps make staying hydrated a little more enjoyable ☺️

We all hear the talk about protein. Yep, it's really important to get enough in your diet, but hey, FIBRE is having its own moment, too! 🌱

You don’t need a complicated plan to get more of it. Berries, beans, lentils, oats, seeds, whole grains and vegetables all count.

Try adding just one extra fibre-rich food to your day, and increase gradually, with plenty of water, to keep your belly happy.

What’s your favourite delicious way to get more fibre?

How are we already nearing the end of July? 🌿

The gardens are filling up; the evenings are still long. Summer somehow feels abundant and yet much too short, all at once, doesn't it? It's weird.

What’s one simple thing you still want to enjoy before July slips away?
A swim?
A picnic?
Berry picking?
Supper outside?

Tell us below, and we may borrow a few ideas. ☀️
