Our Story

The Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market is a LOCAL only, SEASONAL farmers’ market located in the heart of downtown Aberfoyle. Available produce is based on the Ontario growing season and is grown within mere kilometres of market. Each vendor’s ‘distance away’ is noted on a sign at their booth. You won’t find lemons and other “tropical” food at our market, but you will find food grown by local farmers and their families. We encourage shoppers to talk to the producers and get to know their local farmers.

Every farmer, crafter, baker, or chef that applies to our market is visited by our experienced team of volunteers. Farms, kitchens and craft studios are inspected to ensure everything brought to the market is grown, made or prepared by the vendor. In order to fill product gaps, vendors are permitted to compliment their offerings with a small number of products that are not made or grown by them. Our dedicated team of volunteers juries each new product on a case by case basis, making every effort to balance vendor types by product category and limit direct competition within the market. Our jurying process is our way of guaranteeing that our market is TRULY local.
