Freezer favourites are back in Bayers Lake.

We’ve had another big freezer refresh this week and there are some very familiar names back in.

Mr Kipling Bakewell Tarts, Mini Battenbergs, Apple Pies and French Fancies are back, along with Jamaica Ginger Cake, Golden Syrup Cake, Warburtons bread and Warburtons crumpets.

Aunt Bessie’s Homestyle Chips and McCain chips are back too, plus Linda McCartney vegan pies and vegan sausage rolls.

Mayflower Curry & Chips is back as well. That one has been asked about a lot!

There are also lots of in-store sales around the shop, so it’s a decent week to pop in.

Also, small bakery update: about three weeks ago, we quietly added about 25–30% more meat into our sausage rolls to see if anyone noticed.

You did.

The regulars have started commenting, which was exactly what we were hoping for.

So yes, the sausage rolls are now officially more sausagey.

Our first Great British Bargains flyer is here.

You’ll find sale tags around the shop this week, with select items anywhere from 10% to 70% off.

The flyer shows 12 of the items, but there are around 40 items currently on sale in store, including a few not pictured like McVitie’s Ginger Nuts and Cadbury Wispa.

Also, full honesty: making the flyer somehow took longer than filling the bakery counters for the weekend, so next week’s may look slightly different. The deals will still be there though.

Bakery counters are full, shelves have plenty worth nosing through and the sale items are while quantities last.

Be honest, which one of these would you grab first?
And when you’re shopping British groceries, what’s always going in the basket? Crisps? Biscuits? Tea? Chocolate?

Mother’s Day weekend and the shop’s looking the part!🌷

If you’re sorting a Mother’s Day tea at home, we’ve got scones, clotted cream, plenty of jams, sweet cakes, fresh cream cakes, desserts, vanilla slices are back and a fair few nostalgic British bits Mum probably hasn’t had in years.

Freezers are stocked too, Linda McCartney and Quorn back in, Warburtons crumpets back and the crisp wall is in proper form.

And because it’s the weekend, we’ve got pies. All the regulars, plus three specials:

🥧 Breakfast Pie — sausage, bacon, egg and beans. Basically what happens when a full English and a meat pie get carried away.

🥧 Steak, Haggis & Peppercorn Pie — rich, punchy, exactly what it says.

🥧 Irish Guinness Stew Pie — slow-braised beef in Guinness gravy with potatoes, carrots and onions.

So whether you’re building a Mother’s Day spread, picking up something for Mum, or just using Mother’s Day as a very reasonable excuse to buy scones and crisps, we’re well stocked this weekend.

Sausage rolls. 4 for $12 until Sunday!🇬🇧🇨🇦

We just received a massive post-Easter order and the shop is STOCKED. If you've been waiting for an excuse to come in, this is it.

The cake counter is loaded. The pie counter is loaded. Steak, Haggis & Peppercorn pies are back, and we've just introduced a brand new steak & Ale pie that you're going to want to get in on early. Scotch eggs, scotch pies, pork pies, all in. Fresh cream cakes? Come on. You already know.

And the Cornish pasties are back in the counter. Proper ones. These never hang around long, so if you've been waiting, don't!

Oh and the crisp wall? Absolutely stacked. Loads of flavours, shelves are looking very healthy right now.

After the madness of Easter, come in, take your time and treat yourself to something proper.

A customer has accidentally left behind two brand new boxes of shoes in the shop after popping in on Thursday afternoon.

We were hoping they might realise and come back in for them, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.
We’ve checked the transaction but don’t have any contact details to reach out directly.

Easter Weekend 🐰🇬🇧🍫

For the last month, Easter eggs have rightfully stolen the show. And look, we get it. We've loved every second of it.
But this weekend? We get to remind you what we actually are.

We're a bakery. And this weekend the bakery is absolutely loaded.

Good Friday morning we'll have fresh Hot Cross Buns straight out the oven. Alongside those you'll find Victoria sponge, fresh cream cakes, tarts, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, meat pies, the full spread.

The kind of counter that makes you walk in for one thing and leave with six.

And yes, for anyone still on the hunt, we've still got a brilliant selection of Easter eggs in, a good variety of sizes and options, so don't panic.

The shelves are full this weekend. Biscuits, chocolates, drinks, pantry staples, everything you'd expect and then some.

We're here Friday (9-5), Saturday, Sunday and Monday!

Right… it’s that time of year again. (Cue the Hot Cross.. Puns)

The final stretch before Easter.
The few days where everyone swears they’ve got it under control. Before it all goes completely off the boil.

We see you.

Every year, without fail:
“I’ll grab eggs later in the week”
“I’ll pop in closer to Easter”
“I’ve got loads of time”

Next thing you know, it’s 3pm on Saturday, shelves are looking a bit eggs-hausted and you’re clutching whatever’s left like it was the plan all along.

The shop is absolutely cracking right now. Shelves are full, hot cross buns are flying and there’s still a proper egg-stravaganza to choose from… but things won’t stay that way for long. A lot of eggs are down to single digits!

What’s funny is… this week we’re already seeing self-proclaimed procrastinators coming in saying they’ve “left it late.”
Little do they know, they’re some of the most organised Easter shoppers in Halifax.

Because we know some of you will be reading this, completely mind-boggled at that level of egg-spert planning and we’ll be seeing you strolling in proper last minute like you do every year.

So whether you’re organized (rare breed), slightly behind (respectable), or fully embracing the chaos (we salute you)… we’ve got you covered.

Because we will see some of you at 3pm on Saturday, wandering in, full of hope before asking if we’ve “got anything left out the back.” Because at that point, the only thing left will be regret and maybe a slightly dented box of something nobody wanted.

We have our Turkey, Stuffing & Cranberry Pies in the counters, we've got your Sunday roast essentials, your chocolates, you tea and biscuits for dipping!
