I can't give you all what you are entitled too and that is my best.

I will be perfectly honest. Working the farm along with 4 social media platforms and a news letter is just to much.

Raspberries and Jerrys Berries will always be part of the farm. I just love my raspberry people to much to give that up.

It's only the FB page that will not be active any longer.

The farm is four parts with the raspberries being one part. All the stories and happenings of the farm will be posted on the Lotsa Hostas page.

Please join us at Lotsa Hosta FB page. We would love to have you. Your support is always appreciated.

Or sign up for our newsletter if you think that may interest you.

Thank you so much everyone, we continue to be here for you through Lotsa Hostas.

thanks!!

The End!

It's the end of the cut flower season.

It was at times challenging. I learned a lot and loved growing flowers.

My biggest thrill was observing people coming onto the farm. You could just see the tension roll off their shoulders. The smile that came to their faces. Others would lift their heads to the sun and air and just take a deep breathe.

To see your pleasure gives me pleasure and makes it all worth it. Thank you, thank you for that.

We couldn't do it without our people. Thank you for your continued support. It is so much appreciated.

Wet or dry.

What's your weather.

We had a lot of rain this past summer. The earth, plants and bees needed it after the drought of the past two years.

Things grew very well. A bumper crop of all fruits. The grass had to be cut twice a week. Resulting in brilliant greens and color that just lifted me up.

It also brought a plague of mosquitos along with slugs and snails. The weather will never be perfect.

What's your choice........wet or dry?

For me............it's wet all the way.

What do you think?

Our Farm - A Complete Circle

One could not do without the other. One needs to feed the other.

Nature is so amazing. To keep our little farm a place where nature does it own work the circle needs to be complete.

No added chemical fertilizers or harmful sprays are used on the farm.

When balanced and left alone nature will look after its self.

Raspberries - are pollinated by the bees
Honey Bees - pollinate 80% of the worlds food
Flowers - feed the bees

Farming!!

There has GOT to be an easier WAY!!

Feeling like a fireman.......and not having their strength.

I don't want to do this next year. Nor am I sure I want to do more digging to add a water line to the flower field.

A permanent water line will be less labor intensive so I have a feeling that will be the direction forward.

The big question is, will there be enough time before the ground freezes.

Feeling the Pain

Wouldn't farming be great if you could drive a tractor all day.

Isn't that what it's all about??

Making progress. Accomplishment is a wonderful feeling. 4 more beds cleaned up and cover cropped.

The pros far outweigh the cons.

I always sleep well after a day of slugging.

What do you Prefer?

Strawberries or raspberries.

What is your favorite. Let me know and why?

Frozen or fresh.

I'm in the raspberry patch all year long. I see the first raspberry ripen in June until the last one freezes around October.

I'm not a raspberry lover. Isn't that amazing. I actually like a good strawberry over a raspberry.

In the 4 months that I am working around fresh raspberries I never pick and eat a single one. Walking through the rows and seeing all that fresh ripe redness does not tempt me at all.

Interesting how we are all so different.

Now.......I love real raspberry jam. That taste you cannot beat. Hands down it wins over strawberry jam any day.

Mummm, raspberry jam on fresh bread with butter. Better than cake.

I make my raspberry jam in the winter with my frozen raspberries. And it is delicious.

Do you use certo to make your jam? I would love to hear.

Both our frozen raspberries and jam are available at our road side stand. Easy pickup for your convenience.

Queen of the Fall - Dahlia

What are your colors.

First year growing dahlias as a cut flower. I understand how she rates the term "Queen". What a show.

I'm not convinced I like these colors.

Love to hear what my flower people think. I know what I like but what do you?
