This is a long post but a lot of people have been wondering just who is Dr. Jody. So Ruby M asked Krista B to come up with an introduction and she has done a great job of encompassing all that Dr. Jody is!!!!

PLEASE take the time to read and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!!

Who is Dr. Jody Carrington?
Those who know, know.
For those of you who have not yet
experienced Dr. Jody and wonder why it matters that she’s coming to our small town—this is for you.

A quick Google search will give you the basics: Dr. Jody is a psychiatrist, best-selling author, and public speaker. While this is an accurate description, Dr. Jody is so much more.

One could also Google the ingredients to cake—flour, eggs, butter, sugar, milk. This, too, is an accurate description, but you need to experience them to truly understand what the hype is all about. This is exactly what we hope you’ll be able to do: experience Dr. Jody and maybe eat your cake too!

Dr. Jody Carrington has an energy and a way with words, using humour and the odd F-bomb to create an instant connection with her audience.

Expect there to be a few life-changing moments along the way. Her message is simple: “We are wired to do the hard things, but we are so much braver together.”—Dr.Jody Carrington.

Jody speaks passionately about resilience, burnout, mental health, leadership, grief, and trauma– and how reconnection is the answer to so many of the problems that we face.

Everyone has their own story, their own challenges, so each person listening and connecting to Jody’s words will hear and take away what they need in that moment.

Jody’s two-day tour in Hudson Bay is jam-packed; we are making the most of this wonderful opportunity! On September 22nd, Dr. Jody will start by meeting with our grade 11 and 12 students. This will allow the voice and leadership of our future to reconnect and make positive changes moving forward (both for themselves and others).

That evening, Jody will speak to the general public at our main event in the Brooks Hall.
Dr. Jody will touch on many topics, feeling seen being the most prominent.
This is when the laughter, the reconnection, and most likely a few damp eyes will appear. It will feel like a lot, but you’ll take away what you needed to hear the most.

September 23rd is for anyone who knows a kid and loves a kid—parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, educational assistants, bus drivers, etc.
The morning starts off with our
educators—teachers, EAs, coaches, bus drivers.
This is an opportunity to reconnect and become relit for the new year. The smallest change can often make the biggest impact. Parents and caregivers are the fifth and final group Dr. Jody is presenting to that afternoon.

Why is this the last session? Well, here’s the thing: our teenagers are busy making connections, our
community members are now thinking about the messages they heard the night before, our
educators are relit and ready to reconnect, and now it’s time to dig deeper as parents and caregivers.

This session will provide opportunities to ask the hard questions, seek connections, and make changes where needed.

We come together quickly as a community, family, and friends when a major crisis arises. We donate, we give our time, we share food, we cheer each other on, we laugh together,
and we cry together. However, these connections need to be more than crisis driven; we need to connect for the little everyday moments too, good or bad.

Our goal is to not end the conversation once the sessions are over. We hope to continue on with a quarterly refresh throughout the 2023/2024 school year.

Just like the saying “It takes a village”, bringing this event to fruition could not happen alone. Our community never ceases to amaze me with their generosity. Local businesses, individuals, the town, and the RM have donated funds and prizes to help offset the overall cost.

Volunteers who are passionate about Dr. Jody’s message have stepped up to plan, organize, and bring this event to life. Our community school is providing a venue and an audience.

Last, but not least, the people in our community and surrounding communities are purchasing event
tickets, 50/50 tickets, and making silent auction bids. Thank you to everyone involved!

I am beyond excited and grateful to be part of this process! I hope this leaves you wanting to learn more and join us for each session you are able.

Don’t let the conversation stop here! Talk about these events, purchase a ticket, invite family and friends to attend with you, check out Dr. Jody on Facebook and Instagram, and consider reading one of Dr. Jody’s
books—I highly recommend Kids These Days.

I’ll leave you with a quote that sums this up the best for me:
“We’re all just walking each other home.”-Ram Dass

To our valued customers and community,

After three generations and almost 65 years in business, it is with mixed emotions that we announce to you today that McDonald’s Family Foods has entered into an agreement to sell our grocery store in Hudson Bay, SK to Parkland Co-op.
This business is very important to us, as it’s been family ran since 1958 and we are proud of what it has become within our community to get fresh and quality groceries in Hudson Bay and the surrounding area.

Why Co-op?
When we considered selling McDonald’s Family Foods, we wanted a partner that was aligned to our values. Parkland Co-op is part of our local community and shares our value of delivering personalized customer service and a commitment to the community. Like McDonald’s Family Foods, Co-op has been providing exceptional customer service and products for many years. Co-op is an integral part of communities across Saskatchewan and Western Canada and that’s why we believe this is a natural fit and will allow for a smooth transition for our staff and customers.

What Comes Next
This transaction is expected to close in September, and we expect you will experience some transition over the coming weeks and months. However, Parkland Co-op intends to continue employment for our staff, which means that we can continue to provide the same exceptional service to our loyal customers with minimal impact or interruption.

We want to thank our staff, our community and our local customers for how each of you have contributed to the success of McDonald’s Family Foods over the decades. Together, we have created memories and experiences with our community. We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we look forward to your continued success and support with Parkland Co-op.
