Weyt-kp,
A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible vendors, the Delta Hotels by Marriott Kamloops team, and the many guests who joined us at the Ḱwséltkten Kristmas Market.
Yesterday was a day that truly filled my cup. I had the chance to reconnect with Thompson Rivers University students and work alongside them during the early morning load-in. One of the best compliments was when a student said, “I missed volunteering with you — it doesn’t feel like work with you.” Moments like that remind me why I love this work.
My niece Ophelia and my friend’s son Meer were bundles of energy — reminding me how deeply my work relies on community, and how important it is to uplift the next generation as they step into these spaces with us.
Special thanks to George Casimir and the team at Community Futures Development Corporation of Central Interior First Nations (CFDC of CIFN) for their partnership and financial support, which helped make this event possible.
We began planning this market back in the summer, and seeing it come to life — filled with local artists, meaningful conversations, and strong community support — meant more than I can express.
I also want to acknowledge my colleagues at Scwén̓wen Economic Development Corporation — your willingness to be shoulder-tapped, to step in, and to show up in the community whenever asked does not go unnoticed. Kukwstsétsemc for always leading with generosity and teamwork.
Kukwstsetselp — thank you to everyone who contributed, including those who donated non-perishable food items and monetary donations to C7í7elcmenten re Stsíllen (A Place to Share Food). Your generosity goes directly back into our community.
I’m already looking forward to what we can build together next year.
💜 Stephanie
