About the Orchard:
After 3 years of transitional farming the King's farm has been granted Certification through the COABC and PACS as of October 2009. About the Farmers:
Richard and Robyn King have grown apples for 30 years. Richard currently farms full time and has recently completed his Masters Degree in Environmental Studies (Sustainable Farming) through UBC. Robyn works as a social worker in
the geriatric field. She also helps on the farm and has a large garden. About the Location:
The farm is located 8 minutes from Orchard Park Shopping Center. Go down Benvoulin towards the Mission; turn left on KLO and go past the Harvest Golf course. Turn left onto East Kelowna Road (at the KLO store, across from McCulloch Station). Go 1 km and turn left on Dunster Road; continue on for 1 km until you see the sign on the road BITE ME ORGANICS. The address is 2934 Dunster Road. About the Prices:
Apples are available in 10, 20, 25 and 40 pound containers. The prices start at $1.00 per pound. There will be a variety of apples available for the months of September and October. About the Art in the Barn:
In an effort to make the barn into an attractive fruit stand, some work had to be done! Several local artists were approached to display their art. The agreement was that the works were to be Okanagan related. The results were exciting and customers enjoyed looking at different pieces while at the farm. Because my purpose with BITE ME ORGANICS is to sell quality fruit, I do not charge any commission when art is sold. However, the artists know that I like lattes!!
