Family Inspired recipes of Bannock! Bannock is a powerhouse superfood gifted to our people by settlers. We have always had unleavened bread made from stone ground rice and grain and corn however the settlers brought us what is referred to as the five white gifts- Flour, sugar, lard, salt and baking powder...

I have remained true to the basic recipe however instead of lard I use canola oil and a

dd all the fresh stuff to create what you see on my menu . I do gluten free bannock its a little more expensive than regular due to sourcing gluten free flour. I do both the baked and fried gluten free. Its good to pre-order if you want gluten free as i often will just bake cranberry or blueberry and fry up a few for market...let me know if you also need Stevia instead of sugar .. The menu has not changed its grown to incorporate more! Garlic Chive and Cheese

Tomorrow I'll be baking and frying! I got some pre orders of plain, garlic chive and cheese, blueberry and cranberry wild rice loaves as well as fried bannock.

DM if interested. Orders will be delivered late afternoon.

If you want your bannock sliced let me know I can do that. Each loaf slices into 8-10 pieces makes freezing/storage easier.

Bannock pizza Stromboli was so yummy yesterday I just needed something with a cheese pull!

How I did it.

2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
Scant pinch of salt
2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
1- 1/2 or less cup
Hottest water you can stand.

6 slices of mozzarella cheese
Pizza sauce
Thinly sliced onions
6 slices of ham
6 slices pepperoni
Thinly sliced peppers
6 slices of provolone cheese
Parmesan cheese
Pizza seasoning or Italian seasoning
Egg wash.

Roll roll roll out your bannock dough into a rectangle shape.

Top with parm cheese pizza sauce layer of ham mozza cheese more parm sauce onions pepperoni provolone peppers parm cheese sauce. Season as you like on each layer

Roll it up it's messy awkward fun beat an egg and seal the roll with it envelope style place on cookie sheet seam side down cut slits if you like. Brush egg wash on it for uniform color. Bake at 400 until golden brown for 25-30 minutes.

Let "rest" then slice and serve with more pizza sauce!

You can also slice these into pizza rolls...

Sorry it's been awhile. I experienced the sudden loss of my sister in law and it sent me spinning. She was missing by me for 11 days found dead in her home after I begged family to check on her.

Please remember to check on folks in this heat and don't take no for an answer.

My basil chives and garlic have went wild. Will be processing them cut wash dry or freeze in the coming days.

I had intended to do market with my sis in law she was very crafty but I just can't find the energy or drive to be motivated enough to do it.

I still bake once a week and fry on demand. Just DM away. Miigwech to those who still support me and love my bannock! Had folks stop in during pow wow looking for me.

I got heat sick last week and have been basically sleeping since!
