OUR STORY:
We are a young family of four, who have always had the vision to live a more sustainable and simpler life. Not wanting to leave the Cowichan Lake area was making it more difficult to find our dream property to call home. Finally we seen an oppurtunity for a future homestead to raise our two children, Callie and Colby. With much eagerness and determination, we finally succeeded with the

purchase of our farm in the summer of 2014. Like with many farms, comes hard work, but we really had our work cut out for us. Trying to fix up our overgrown 9 acres and nearly falling and rotting outbuildings, and doing it on top of our full time jobs and raising two young kids did not come easy. We were able to overlook all that knowing that a little hard word and some TLC could make it what we dreamed of. Like original homestead owner, Henry March, once referred it as "a diamond in the rough". Our first year was a learning experience in many areas of farming, as well as fun and extremely strenuous. We successfully raised 16 pigs; layer chickens and some meat birds. On top of raising ethically grown meat and eggs for our freezer and other families in the community, we created a large vegetable garden, where we successfully grew several veggies;fruit; berries and herbs for our table and some to sell at our farm stand. Some of the vegetables are still being enjoyed well into January. We ended our first farming season with adding three Boer goats, Betty; Sammy and Peanut to our farm for our breeding stock, Also, two hereford heifer cows for either breeding stock or meat production. Both these are experiemental for us, to see what works; what sells best(ie.,live animals or the meat); what quanity our land can feed, etc...
A year and a half later after purchasing our farm, the work continues and so do our visions for growth. Callie entering into 4H on top of her figure skating and Colby well into his hockey season will make this another busy and interesting farming year. We thrive on providing locally grown food without any hormones or chemicals, and are continually working on adding to our available products for our family and yours!

My apologies to our neighbours with Lake front property, since our vacation our young ducks have decided they will vacation as well to the lake daily for their swim! 🤣
We will do a light wing clipping soon ( not harmful to them just like a toe nail clipping for us) to prevent them from invading our neighbours properties.

This is what a hockey rink looks like on a farm, about 900/1000 bales here! Spoiled kids and they don’t even realize it!...

Such a great feeling for a farmer to have all their hay stacked up in the barn 😅
