Do you believe that you are what you eat and that what you eat is critical to your health? Do you value eating veggies grown in ground locally from non-GMO seeds without herbicides, pesticides, or fossil-fuel derivative fertilizers? Do you want to enjoy the experience of picking and eating fresh non-GMO veggies this summer? If yes, please come and visit Langley’s newest natural farming venture: “

The Veggie Patch”.

“The Veggie Patch” is a ½ acre ‘U-Pick’ garden located at 22051- 56 Ave in the Township of Langley just 1 km east of the Langley airport on 56th Avenue.

“The Veggie Patch” is a collaborative agriculture project run by three local Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) Sustainable Agriculture Program students: Stafford Richter, Joseph Ritchie, and Alexander Stark through a land lease agreement with property owner Pacific West Perennials. These three KPU students started “The Veggie Patch” in April 2014 and are applying the science of their studies with the hope of funding their education while living their dreams as local farmers with top quality natural grown veggies! The goal of our farm is to satisfy a growing niche market for natural, fresh, accessible, and wholesome food within Langley and we sincerely welcome your business! We do our best to adhere to organic principles: we do not use herbicides, pesticides and or fossil-fuel derivative fertilizers on our crops. We are a human powered operation and not a farm machine powered business; all of the work that has been completed at “The Veggie Patch” has been done so by our (calloused) hands. We even go out at night to pick off the slugs!

“The Veggie Patch” has a broad range of non-GMO vegetables including rainbow chard, red kale, cucumbers, potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, peas, beans, beets, turnips, scallions, broccoli, pumpkins and zucchini. Several well-known local Langley restaurants also use our veggies and we thank them very much for all their support and encouragement.

“The Veggie Patch” is open for business Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM until 6 PM. All produce is picked fresh on site and is weighed and bagged with a complimentary reusable tote bag for your next visit. “We-Pick” services are also available on request. Produce prices are based on weight or amount per unit (such as edible flowers or lettuce heads for example). We accept all major credit cards or cash. Stark, Stafford and Joe all look forward to seeing you and chatting with you on your visit to “The Veggie Patch”. All your suggestions and ideas are gladly welcomed!
