Frequently Asked Questions
———————————————
We appreciate your interest in learning more about Uncle Mike's Honey, beekeeping, and bee products. This FAQ post has been set up to answer some common questions we have received about Uncle Mike's Honey.
Q. Where is your honey produced?
A. Uncle Mike's Honey is produced in the Lethbridge area where it has access to multiple nectar sources.
Q. Is Uncle Mike's Honey organic?
A. No. Due to our locations, we are not able to certify our honey as officially organic. Obtaining truly certified organic honey is a very high standard to meet. Have a look at this if you are curious to learn more: https://www.ontariobee.com/research/getting-started/thinking-organic
Q. What products do you offer?
A. We offer raw honey in clear 1 kg tubs so you can see the product you are buying. We also offer comb honey in clear square cassettes.
Q. What kind of raw honey do you sell?
A. We are offering wildflower honey.
Q. What is comb honey? Is it different than honeycomb?
A. The difference between comb honey and honeycomb is more semantic than tangible but there are some differences. If we simply said "honeycomb" it might be understood as empty comb on its own. Comb honey is a premium product that we are especially pleased to offer. There are many great qualities about comb honey and you can read about some of them here: https://freshhoneycomb.com/blogs/the-buzz/10-benefits-of-eating-raw-honeycomb. As you can see, comb honey is not just honey on its own; the added features of capped and sealed comb honey provide a value not found in raw honey alone.
Q. How do you eat comb honey?
A. You can eat it plain with a spoon. You can warm it up and scrape it onto toast. You could also just eat the honey inside of the comb, if that’s all you want to do. Here is a little video of how one lady enjoys it.

Q. Why does your cut comb honey look different from what other people are selling?
A. We use the Hogg Halfcomb system which gives the bees a great head start on building complete honeycomb portions that are filled with honey which is then capped and sealed. This system employs a collection of square cassettes which the bees fill up with new comb and new honey in what turns out to be a completed portion ready to share with you. True "cut comb" honey is cut from honeycomb in a beehive and package separately. The edges of a cut comb portion do not contain all of the honey that once filled the peripheral comb cells as part of it drains away when it is cut. The Hogg Halfcomb system does not experience this loss as it is harvested just the way the bees made it-fully capped and sealed with no modifications. You are getting the full effort from the bees.
Q. Do you ship your product?
A. We do not ship our products at this time. Interested customers can arrange pick up of their products after purchase.
Q. How can I buy Uncle Mike's Honey?
A. We accept cash and e-transfers.
Q. What if I e-transfer money and it doesn't go through?

Any product which has already been delivered or received in hand is not returnable or refundable. Please allow 1-2 business days for refunds to be processed.
