Holmes Grown

Holmes Grown Hey Manitoulin! My name is Bill Holmes. I'm growing chemical free vegetables to sell around the island this summer! I'll use this page to keep you updated.

For a couple of years I have been thinking about starting up an organic vegetable farm. This year I have finally made it a reality! I have just under 2 acres growing. Everything will be grown chemical free, and I will be working as close with nature and the surrounding environment as I can. I'm will be selling daily from the side of Highway 6 towards South Bay, south of Rainbow Gardens, and just N

orth of the Hilly Grove cemetery. I will have signs on the side of the highway pointing to the exact location when things are fully grown. This page will be my way to communicate with you. I'll keep an update on what's being grown, when it should be expected to be harvestable, as well as when I'm around the island farmer's markets. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask via this page, or my personal page.

I have not given up, nor forgotten about this idea. Due to a complicated combination of circumstances, implementation of the business was postponed.

However! I am currently enrolled in the YEDI (youth entrepreneurship startup) program through Cambrian College and am currently at the Market Research stage. The idea has evolved, and I am building towards year-round produce production on Manitoulin. I have created this survey to help determine whether or not my business idea has a potential future.

If you would be willing to fill out this survey, it would be very appreciated! It should only take 3-4 minutes, and those who fill it out and are interested, may be eligible for a discount once the business is established. More details at the end of the survey.

Updates will be posted on this page as progress continues. The website and other social media accounts will also be listed on this page once they are created.

Thank you in advanced for filling this out for me. I look forward to helping increase food security on the island in our near future.

If you would be willing to share this post as well, that would be really helpful. Thanks!
