Brownsmere Orchard This heritage apple orchard, started by my Grandparents in 1946, boasts old-fashioned favourite apples and pears available for you to try.

Our season is July to October. The Brownsmere Orchard is a heritage fruit orchard started by my Grandparents in 1946. Every few years, more trees were added or replaced as needed. In 1968, due to health concerns in the family, the apple orchard was abandoned. In 1975, my parents put a lot of effort to return the orchard to it’s fruitful days, cutting down the weeds, and cleaning up broken branches

. We have continued caring for these ‘friends’, the fruit trees and have expanded the orchard to the 49 trees we have today. Whenever possible, trees have been planted that reflect the old fashioned varieties of apples and pears. Now, my husband and I are working to maintain these old-fashioned trees. We have 34 types of apples, and 3 types of pears. The orchard also boasts of a very large patch of rhubarb.
