Yesterday, while cleaning up the front yard on the farm, I swept up what I thought was a little frog or toad hiding in the rubbish pile. But when I looked closer, I was surprised to find a tiny baby turtle instead. 🐢
After doing some research, I learned it appears to be a native painted turtle — a small reminder of how much life quietly exists around us, even in places we least expect.
I took it down to the creek on the farm and released it safely near the bank among the vegetation. Before disappearing into the water and mud, it paused for a moment to drink.
It was such a simple moment, but it stayed with me.
Sometimes nature doesn’t ask for anything grand from us. Sometimes it only asks us to notice, to care, and to help something small find its way home.
May we all move a little more gently through the places we share — with the turtles, the birds, the grasses, the mud, and every quiet life we might otherwise overlook.
Welcome back to the creek, little traveler. 🐢🌿
