Social media gives us more information about food than ever before. But sometimes, instead of creating awareness, all that information creates fear.
Fear of sugar. Fear of gluten. Fear of ingredients we can’t pronounce. Fear of making the “wrong” choice.
But understanding what you eat is very different from being afraid of what you eat.
When you understand your choices, you can take care of your body without expecting perfection. You can choose nourishing foods most of the time and still enjoy something with sugar once in a while without guilt.
Our bodies are constantly repairing, adapting and working to keep us going. That doesn’t mean we should abuse the incredible body God gave us. It means we can care for it from a place of gratitude and understanding, not fear.
And maybe that’s part of the balance we want our children to see too.
Read the ingredients. Ask questions. Understand your choices.
But don’t be afraid of food.
Awareness and fear can sometimes look the same from the outside.
But they don’t come from the same place.
It’s not the same.
