Fraser's Market Cabins - East Arrow Park

Fraser's Market Cabins - East Arrow Park 3 off grid, boutique cabins await those seeking more than a bed. We are the link between the West Kootenay backcountry and the beaten path.

Built for adventurers, seeking authentic experiences, brought to them by hosts who are explorers themselves. We are a small agritourism accommodation, offering micro, off-grid Cabins, products created using farm grown produce and honey. Mid 2024, we will begin to offer farm and bee tours.

Here in the mountains the weather can change quickly. Yesterday came in with a bang and closed out with calm. This is life in the Kootenay Rockies.

This time of year, evening walks lakeside are the best! True darkness doesn't set in until very late, and when it does the night skies are outstanding.

If you’re staying with us over the next couple of weeks—or just lucky enough to call this valley home—nature is putting on a massive, two-part show right outside your cabin door. No telescope required.

✨ Part 1: The Sunset "Cosmic Kiss" (Peak: June 8–12)

Right after sunset, look across Arrow Lake, above Ingersol Mountain. The two brightest planets in our sky, Venus and Jupiter, will be incredibly close together. By the 12th, Mercury will join them low on the horizon, creating a rare three-planet sunset parade.

🌌 Part 2: The Midnight Masterpiece (Peak: June 15)

Mark your calendars for June 15th. It’s a "Super New Moon," which means the moon will be completely dark, turning our mountain skies into a velvet-black canvas. Between midnight and 3:00 AM, look due South. The massive, cloudy core of the Milky Way galaxy will rise right over the peaks, entirely visible to the naked eye.

Viewing can be done from our cabin decks, hammocks or lakeside with zero light obstructions.

Leaving your phone inside is highly recommended. Let the universe handle the screen time this week. 🖤

Trading endless doing for peaceful moments. 🏔️
Tiny bonsai Japanese maple buds to teach us patience. 🌱
A beautifully imperfect wobble in the local pottery to remind us to breathe. ☕
When your mindis running a million miles a second, you miss the magic found in the slow, uneven spaces.
If your thoughts are spinning too fast today, let this be your sign to step away from the rush, soften expectations, and embrace the beautiful imperfections of a quiet cabin getaway.

Today is World Bee Day. Not just honeybees, but all bees. The first photo is from one of my colonies and shows the stages from egg to larvae, the next is my adult workers heading off, and the third is of a tiny Miner Bee found in the West Kootenays this past weekend. Oh the life of the fascinating bee.
